Here to deliver such science is Wayne Sharrocks - film maker, public speaker and campaigner, but more importantly, he served in the British Army for a good seven years or so, and is therefore more than qualified to deliver the insider perspective on the armed forces and process of becoming a soldier from start to end.A big subject to tackle, an emotive and provocative one too, and Wayne and Pip don't mess around with this - it's a honest and frank discussion which hits upon the whole sphere of national defence, ranging from the reasons why one might sign up, the age of new recruits (and why currently that may not be such a wise choice), what the new recruit might face upon entry and how the internal hierarchy works, the journey to a warzone, what happens then, and being in the immediate vicinity of soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice (which Wayne has experienced up close).This sets the tone and context for an inspiring and positive talk about whether or not this is right for most people, whether a younger recruit is in the correct frame of mind to engage in such a heavy and intensive process, and how interaction in civilian society can be a very real issue for those who have served and become so intimately involved with the armed forces and the framework within.A deeply interesting discussion, and Wayne shares his points of view, experience and wisdom articulately and honestly, which will leave you with much to consider and unpack.
