1991 was a wild year. The Gulf War, the release of the video of the arrest and beating of Rodney King, The Warsaw Pact was dissolved, South Africa ended Apaetheid, and Ukraine celebrated its first independence day. All of these events preceded the American late summer August radio debut of the song “Smells like teen spirit”. The song, released by a relatively unknown band coming straight out of the Seattle rock melting pot, would fundamentally reshape the landscape of rock music forever. In a short span of 3 years the band had the world at its fingertips. After their first US tour in 2 years, Nirvana began their first European tour in 1994. After their concert in Munich, Germany, things took a tragic turn. The following month their lead singer and frontman would be found dead in his home in Seattle, Washington. In 1972 well-known paranormal researcher Ivan T. Sanderson published an article examining what he called “The Twelve Devil’s Graveyards Around The World”. Areas historically known for unexplained phenomenon and mysterious disappearances. This list included the infamous Bermuda Triangle, The Devil’s Sea, and the North and South Poles. Sanderson and other researchers have gone on to try and explain why these areas are such hotbeds of unusual activity by studying their relative locations, the amount of electromagnetic radiation that surrounds the areas, and the existence of ancient megaliths within some of the regions. There is no shortage of strange tales and sinister stories when it comes to the bleak and dreary locations of lighthouses. Maine’s infamous Seguin lighthouse for instance, a lighthouse keeper, allegedly driven to madness by his wife’s piano playing, brutally murdered her with an axe before committing suicide. The Pensacola lighthouse in Florida, it was the lighthouse keeper's wife who murdered her husband, stabbing him to death. Before the advent of automated lighthouses, the men and women who tended these buildings lived in near total isolation for long periods of time. Before the creation of the 5th age, in which we live, the world had already been destroyed four times over. The first had been devoured by jaguars sent by god Tezcatlipoca after he was struck from the sky by his brother Quetzacoatl. The second world that followed had been swept clean by the mighty winds of the very same Quetzacoatl after its inhabitants had descended into savagery and showed no reverence for their gods. In 1973 an Australian government cartographer was reported to have seen a bizarre phenomenon deep in the heart of the continent nation. According to the cartographer’s account, they witnessed a large unknown object hovering directly above, what had been known as, the Joint Defence Space Research Facility. The object appeared to have been dull gray in color and was observed to be parked at an estimated 1000 ft above the facility. For nearly 40 minutes the object seemed to project different colored shafts of light down into the base until finally making a number of rapid oscillations and launching vertically and disappearing into the sky. During the 1960’s, a person could not have been blamed if they thought the US was coming apart at the seams. Everyday citizens had begun to organize and question the status quo. To those in power, the status quo was what had made the US a global superpower and, to a select few in the FBI, those who fought for changes to the status quo were a threat to national security. Those involved in activist groups that were at odds with the philosophies that dominated the administrative levels of the FBI such as the Communist Party USA, Black Panthers, Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and The Nation of Islam were deemed threats and were systematically targeted to be “neutralized”. Documents obtained by activists and uncovered by groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union revealed this coordinated harassment of groups with ideologies that were deemed “un-american” was orchestrated and executed under the watchful eye of J. Edgar Hoover who had been the very first director of the FBI. The historical region of Greece is often held as the center of Western culture and philosophy.
