Be Like The Bee
In this beautiful lecture, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan provides an interesting viewpoint from which to look at the bee.
We are constantly people of thought, and what makes us think is Aayat. We think deeply about the Aayat, then reflect on the Aayat, and the Aayat not just of the Quran but the Aayat of the creation all around us. The purpose of the Aayat:
- La allakum yatafakkarun
- Li qoumin yaqi loon
- La allakum taqiloon
- Li yaddabaru aayati
Allah SWT wants us to think about what He wants us to really reflect on, and this is the difference between when we read the Quran just at the surface level and we just move on. We do not stop to think about what actually Allah SWT is saying. He says in the following remarkable Aayah -“wa aoha rabbuka ilal nahl", Allah SWT in this particular Aayah says that He is talking about the bee, the honey bee. Our Master, the same Master who revealed the Quran to us is the One who revealed something to the honey bee.
Allah has given it advice so everything it does has to do with Wahi, it's inspired by Wahi, and it has lessons to learn. There is a Hadith of our Messenger ﷺ - Wallazi bi nafsi hilazi. Inna mahalal mumin ka masalil na’ala -“I swear by the one who has my life in his hand. The example of the believer is just like the example of the bee.”
How are we going to be like the bee? What can a bee teach us about my Emaan? About how are we going to live as a believer?
Listen intently to unravel some awe-inspiring details.

Lessons From A Bird Khutbah
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan shares with us some reflections from two places in the Quran. One of them is Surah An-Naml, the 27th Surah of the Quran and the other is Surah Al-Qasas, the 28th Surah of the Quran.
There are different kinds of proofs and different kinds of manifestations of Taqwa. Taqwa means recognition of Allah’s presence, which means it changes our behavior. Taqwa is also manifest on our conscience and consciousness of Allah is also manifest in how we interact with each other. How humble, how respectful, how courteous we are towards each other is also a sign of what kind of Taqwa we have of Allah SWT.
We learn from the Ayat of Sulayman AS and the stories that are mentioned in the Quran. They are about the bird that was called Hud Hud. Who asked for the bird? When did he ask for it? What position is he in and why would he have to worry about a bird? What transpired in this story? What lesson can be imbibed from this?
Sulayman AS is the leader of an army. So he does show anger as recorded in Surah An Naml.
"I’m going to punish that bird, I’m going to come at it if it’s late. Where, why don’t I see it?”
What is he doing that for?
Now the bird does show up late and he needs to hear an explanation. “ What were you doing?”.
The bird shows up, and it says, "I have come across knowledge that you don’t have”.
But Sulaiman AS is a prophet. What’s his reaction going to be? What’s he going to say?
Listen to the mesmerizing lecture that makes us ponder over the story.

The Strategy Of Satan
Nouman Ali Khan delves into the strategy of Shaytan and also the final dialogue of Iblees. Shaytan is the ultimate enemy we have and is a relentless and pertinent one we have till the end of time. How is the devil going to come at us and pull us under his wing?
Some of the origins of the word Shukr are illustrated and how some of us have Shukr cultivated within us and is displayed.
Shaytan is angry at being admonished for being arrogant to Allah and swears that he will make mankind even more arrogant than him and even ungrateful. So, arrogance is a lack of manifestation of gratitude. Shaytan comes from 4 directions at us and he wants to prove our ingratitude from our hearts and diminish our optimistic relation with Allah. We should fight the temptations and let not greed get the better of us because we should firmly believe that Allah will never abandon us in moments of crises.
Shaytan attacks from the right by:
Convincing you that you own your guidance. So you start to pity others, deviating away from your own guidance and focusing on theirs. Ultimately believing you are the source of guidance and take part in others’ personal journey to Allah.
Using the word of Allah for evil purposes (Having a personal agenda above the word of Allah)
Resetting the priorities of Islam
Defining your own idea of a ‘good character’
Misjudging people based on their presentation. Focusing on the difference in insignificant worshipping styles
Shaytan attacks from the left by:
Removing your motivation to engage in beneficial acts by slowing your ability to do good things. This way he has room to fill up your heart with bad things.
Eliminating the remembrance of Allah from your life so that you are not alarmed in Haram situations and to then fill your heart with despair.
By beautifying sins for you and pulling you towards his direction (the left). Ultimately deviating you from the path of Allah.
To convince us that you have no respect, that you are filthy and invaluable in the eyes of Allah.
Greed and Wanting more than just the blessings of Allah.
Once he gets you evolved in sin, he’ll keep you thereby convincing you that you need it.

Science And Quran And The Concept Of Miracle
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into an understanding of the Qur'an and Science and the concept of Science in the Qur'an with various examples.
What is a miracle in Islam? The classical scholars of Islam listed many conditions for something to be considered a miracle according to Islamic theology. The first one is that which is impossible for human beings to do or perform. A miracle has to be something that can’t be manufactured. The second thing is that it breaks the laws of nature.
The Qur'an speaks of Allah’s creation with the intent of inspiring reflection on the creation’s beauty and reflection on the subtlety, the mechanics, the design, the technology of creation, the technology behind the single leaf, the symmetry involved; the advanced technology in a single cell or an atom, how precise that is, right. It wants people to reflect on the subtlety of Allah’s design and Allah’s creation. The miracle is in the choice of words used or given to describe the creation.

Responsibility
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan reflects on the concepts from some of the verses of Surah Ar Rahman of the Noble Qur'an.
“And the heaven: He raised it high, and He set up two Balances. In order that you may not transgress Balance. And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient.”
In the above verses 7-9 of Surah Ar Rahman, an important and essential truth that has been expressed is that Allah SWT has established the entire Universe precisely and equitably on the foundation of justice. This implies that everything is made by Allah in a perfect measure of balance and nothing is too less or in excess. As individuals, it is our duty to adhere to this balance in nature within our authorized limits and ensure that we do not transgress and disturb these boundaries.
We are reminded of this responsibility of ours as a blessed Muslim Ummah time and time again in this lecture in order that we remain true to our faith and follow all its principles diligently and with full fervor.
Listen intently as Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan shows you exactly how it is done!
