Do not go into excess
Nouman Ali Khan delves into the topic of the Musrifeen - the people who go into excess.
The word Israaf means to go what is beyond necessary. Israaf brings a lot of negative consequences into one’s life. Allah does not love those who indulge in Israaf. The following Ayah from the Qur'an delves into the aspect of Israaf:
“And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.”
[Surah Yunus, verse 12]
"Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."
[Surah Ale Imran, verse 147]
When we fall into stressful times, we need to contemplate on what we were neglecting and what we were doing in excess. This is the principal part of our Deen. We need to bring deep reflections into our lives on our problems with Israaf and constantly strive to live in the middle path.

Ramadan Gems 2019 - Night 19 - The Light of Revelation, Nur 'ala Nur
Nouman Ali Khan acquaints us with some of the important lessons with reference to Surah An Nur.
“Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth; a likeness of His light is as a niche in which is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, (and) the glass is as it were a brightly shining star, lit from a blessed olive-tree, neither eastern nor western, the oil whereof almost gives light though fire touch it not – light upon light – Allah guides to His Light whom He pleases, and Allah sets forth parables for men, and Allah is Cognizant of all things.”
- Surah An Nur, verse 35
Light is a symbol of knowledge, enlightenment, and reflection while darkness is a symbol of ignorance. Allah is the light or the reflection of the skies and the earth which implies that everything in the Universe bears the signature of the Creator and Allah’s design is seen in everything in the Universe. The believers are able to perceive this light in the niche. For them, this light and wisdom is the example of a lamp which is a source of light. The fuel of this light-bearing lamp is their faith, which is the example of a blessed olive tree. They see the light through the parable of bright glass, though not directly exposed to it. The faith leads to the light of Wisdom. Allah increases the light of Wisdom for those who strive to see this light and keeps on increasing it for their guidance.

Ramadan Gems 2019 - Night 18 - Intercession of Nabi SAW on the Day of Judgement
Nouman Ali Khan delves into the topic of intercession of Nabi ﷺ on the Day of Judgement.
Hellfire is described in the Qur'an -
“And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."-
Surah Al Anbiya, verse 46
One of the events on Judgement Day is that the people will look to those who are of high status to intercede for them with Allah SWT so that He might relieve them of this distress that they are suffering. So they will go to Adam AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will go to Nuh AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to Ibraaheem AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to Moosa AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to ‘Isa AS, but he will excuse himself. Then they will come to our Prophet ﷺ and he will say, “I am fit for that.” So he will intercede for the people in the place of gathering, so that judgement may be passed.
