Podcast 069 – Addressing Low Back Issues with Dr. Kyle Matsel
Dr. Kyle Matsel is on the faculty at the University of Evansville as an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy where he teaches in the musculoskeletal content areas of the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum and is also the Program Director in Health Professions Education. Kyle received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Evansville in 2011 and his PhD in rehabilitation sciences from the University of Kentucky in 2021.
His research interests are in the identification of musculoskeletal injury risk factors and the implementation of arm care exercise programs for baseball players. He is the Director of the ProRehab & University of Evansville Sports Physical Therapy residency program. He is a board-certified clinical specialist in sports through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Dr. Matsel is engaged in patient care at ProRehab specializing in sports and orthopedic rehabilitation. Additionally, Dr. Matsel presents nationally on topics related to comprehensive, systematic movement-based assessment and testing and is a consultant with a number of collegiate and professional sports teams regarding injury prevention strategies.

Podcast 068 – Changing the Way Fitness is Done with Alwyn Cosgrove
Alwyn Cosgrove is legendary Coach, Educator and Presenter in the fitness industry. Born in Scotland and initially exposed to fitness training through an intense competitive sport martial arts background, Alwyn Cosgrove began reading and studying any training related material he could get his hands on. This led Alwyn to formal academic studies in Sports Performance at West Lothian College and then progressed on to receiving an honors degree in Sports Science from Chester College, the University of Liverpool.
He is also the Co-owner of Results Fitness in Santa Clarita, California with his wife Rachel—twice named one of the top ten gyms in America by Men’s Health and Women’s Health magazines. In addition to their gym, he and Rachel are also owners of a fitness professional consulting company, Results Fitness University.
As an Author, Alwyn is a sought after ‘expert’ for several of the country’s leading publications including a regular contributor to Men’s Health and Men’s Fitness magazines, Elite FTS, T-Nation, Bodybuilding.com and more. He has also co-authored several books along with Lou Schuler in the “New Rules of Lifting” series, as well as “Strong”.

Podcast 064 – The Optimal Development Model with Dr. Rob Butler
Dr. Robert Butler is beginning his eighth season in Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals. As the Director of Performance, Dr. Butler oversees player physical development and prevention programs, nutrition, sports science, technology integration and mental health services for the St. Louis Cardinals organization as well as the medical care for the affiliate teams. Prior to joining the Cardinals, he served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory at Duke University for 5-1/2 years.
He is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and a graduate of Marietta College where he earned his Bachelor’s in Biology, Springfield College where he earned his M.S. in Biomechanics and Movement Science, and the University of Delaware where he earned his Ph.D. in Biomechanics. Following his doctoral training, he completed a post-doc at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Evansville.

Michael Mullin is a clinically-based athletic trainer with over 30 years of experience in training and rehabilitation. He is the Owner/Clinician of Integrative Rehab Training LLC and sees clients out of a studio at his home in Cumberland Center, ME. He is an NATA Certified Athletic Trainer and a registered Physical Therapy Assistant in California. He is on the adjunct faculty at the University of New England teaching in the Master’s Program for Athletic Training and is a Certified Clinician through the Postural Restoration Institute.
Michael specializes in the treatment, rehabilitation and training of individuals and has worked with all levels of athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL teams, the US Ski Team, Top Ten PGA golfers and gold medal Olympic athletes. Michael has also co-authored a book titled Comprehensive Approach to Sports Injury Management, a chapter in Knee Ligament Rehabilitation called “New Techniques in Cartilage Repair and Replacement” and published articles in multiple professional journals and mainstream publications such as Training & Conditioning, Shape, Women’s Sports & Fitness, Women’s Sports Connection, Men’s Fitness, Skiing, and Windsurfing magazines.

Podcast 063 – Business Models for Fitness Professionals with Michael Campanella
Michael Campanella was an All-New England sprinter in High School and College. While in College, Mike realized that his team strength & conditioning program was sub-par, so he and his co-Captain basically re- wrote their program, sparking his passion for fitness.
At the time, he was an American Studies major at Trinity College and was going to go to law school and while studying for his LSATs, took a part-time job at Train Boston, where he met Mike Perry, and fell in love with personal training. Much to his parents’ dismay, he decided to stick with it as a full-time career. Mike was also competitive in the MMA world and fought 19 times in 4 years, but kind of burnt out.
Shifting gears, he starting focusing on working with the general population on the business side of fitness, and trying to grow the model that he had been working on, which led to creating PEX, a beautiful facility that rents space to private businesses so that they can make more money than anywhere else in the industry

Dr. Meghan Helwig is a sought out Doctor of Physical Therapy in Southern California. She started Primal Strength Physical Therapy on the east coast and then packed up to follow her dream to live and practice on the west coast. Dr. Meghan Helwig graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UMDNJ.
A native of Morris County, NJ, Dr. Helwig earned a finance degree from Villanova University where she was the starting goalie all 4 years for the Div. I Big East Field Hockey Team. While working in NYC Meghan started to go to PT for an injury sustained while training for a half ironman triathlon. This is where her passion for PT was born. Dr. Helwig made the career change in 2006 to pursue something she loved.
Being an athlete her entire life Dr. Helwig has that competitive mindset and understands the demands on the body. Her goals are to educate her patients, help them continue to do what they love in a safe manner and unlock their full potential.
