For their most recent in-studio, recorded over the summer, Martsch came in tow with his current three-piece lineup including Prism Bitch’s Teresa Esguerra on drums and Melanie Radford of Blood Lemon on bass.  Troy Nelson details the history of some of the tools Built To Spill uses to create their unique tone and Cheryl Waters chats with Martsch about how the new lineup has inspired him and affected the sound of their live shows. South Seattle-based musician/educator/entrepreneur Jerrell Davis makes laid-back hip hop under the name Rell Be Free. For his KEXP session, Davis brought in a number of musicians from Mead Streat studios, the South Seattle recording studio he runs alongside a bevy of important local artists. In this episode, we hear a bit about the studio's influence on the community and Davis’ intentions for his art before he and his cohorts jump into four songs from his latest album Sow What?
