On the show this time, it’s the epic afrobeat-rap-rock disco-garage-prog of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. No two ways about it, this Melbourne, Australia eclectic-fusion group is one of our favorite bands out there. And they are way out there! You could spend years trying to decipher their messages about cuttlefish and mushrooms, or trying to successfully categorize them into some sort of rock taxonomy, or trying to nail their perfectly imperfect groove. This record (we are afraid to say their most recent - cause there might be a new one any second) is called - Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava.  It’s available on their KGLW label. The Aussie songwriter Julia Jacklin composes thoughtful lyrics and spacious arrangements, which in combination with her fresh harmonic choices make for a rewarding listening experience. Her latest album Pre-Pleasure is named for the state we all exist in - the moment right before a mythical state -  where we have arrived, we have done the work, and we can now live in the state of “pleasure.” Problem is - that kind of work is never done, so we remain in this state - pre-pleasure, in perpetuity.  This episode features 3 songs from the new record, one from a Sub Pop Singles Club release, and a bonus from her 2019 in-studio, the epic “Don’t Know How to Keep Loving You” from the album “Crushing.”  Both are available from the Polyvinyl Record Company. Eno Williams, singer with adamant vocals, joins the show to discuss London's Ibibio Sound Machine and their latest album 'Electricity'. The band blends West African funk and electro-post-punk, producing bangers ready for the club. This 8-member multicultural band put out their latest album ‘Electricity’ in March of 2022. Blending elements of West African funk and electro-post-punk, it was produced by saxophonist Max Grunhard in collaboration with Hot Chip. The record highlights singer Eno Williams' adamant vocals, and expands the band's sound - it’s all bangers, ready for the club. This performance features the first 4 songs from the album, though in a different order. The Polish pianist’s latest album, 'On Giacometti,' is out February 2023 on Gondwana Records.  She continues to expand on her film score ambient classical atmospherics, using electronics and her clear wistful voice. In this episode, we touch on Rani's origin story and influences and then get right to the music as these works are a bit longer. This performance features 3 previously unreleased pieces, and one - “Buka” - from her 2020 release, 'Home.'
