Viral Encephalitis is inflammation of brain caused by viruses. It commonly presents with Headache, altered mental state, fever, and/or seizures. 

Hypoglycemia is common in hospitalised patients and is associated with worse outcomes, including increased mortality. Dr Tom Crabtree, one of our diabetes registrars in the East Midlands, gives us an overview of hypoglycaemia - its recognition, possible causes and management options. 

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is is a disorder of increased intracranial pressure that occurs mainly in overweight women of childbearing years. Having the commonest presentation of headache, we encounter of these patients quite often in acute setting. On this episode , we are talking about how we should approach in diagnosis and management.

Rodric is a microbiology and infectious diseases registrar in the East Midlands, and in this episode we talk about antibiotic resistance mechanisms and the importance of antibiotic stewardship. 

We often encounter patients presenting with bilateral leg weakness in emergency department, ward and clinic. If we have a good systematic approach , we will be more confident to reach differentials and outline a management plan.

We return this week with doctor Dimitris Papamargaritis, we are discussing obesity management in context of type 2 diabetes. You are going to hear about the most important studies like Look ahead and SOS (Swedish Obese Subjects) and what we have learnt over the years about management of diabetes and obesity plus new treatments in pipeline. We are happy to welcome Dr Dimitris Papamargaritis this week, one of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Academic clinical lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology in the East Midlands. Doctor Papamargaritis will explain obesity - causes, management options and future treatment options.  

We often encounter patients presenting with Headache, then gradually developing focal neurological deficit and/or seizure. Because of its variable clinical presentation, diagnosis of CVST is challenging. However if timely diagnosed and treated, it can lead to very good recovery.
