'Old Crimson w/ Jim Moore & Paul Sorensen. Cougs 4-0. Boise State big test.

In the latest episode of ‘Old Crimson Podcast, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Paul Sorensen, Jim Moore and a practice report from Jamey Vinnick from Cougfan.com.  The title of this weeks episode, “The Fuck You Show.” They rave about the Cougars victory over San Jose State and the performance of John Mateer. In between the praise of Mateer, Puck yells at Jim for taking a phone call during the show and Paul for not having his camera working, but karma is a bitch, because Puck’s camera craps out at the end! The three get in a heated, but friendly debate over the performance of the defense. Puck and Jim feel the defense is performed poorly and Paul isn’t having any of it and says they are 4-0 and that’s all that matters! Puck, Jim and Paul all agree that if they didn’t have Mateer as the teams quarterback, they would probably be 2-2.  In the latest  realignment news, they touch on the Cougs current situation in the Pac-12 with the reports that UNLV  is weighing their options about joining. They all agree that they like this scenario, rather than adding Memphis and Tulane. Lastly, they are joined by Jamey Vinnick of Cougfan.com, and Jamey gives his thoughts on the injury situation with the Cougs and a look ahead to their matchup against Boise State.

Daily Puck Drop

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftblog.com, John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com and Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.comjoins the show from the start to chat about the Seahawks win over Miami and the play of the defense.  Is the defense good or is it a result of the opponents they have faced?  Also, you are seeing a trend in the NFL with teams running the football more and it’s a trend that will likely continue as the season moves forward.  So, as Puck and Rob discuss, old school football is back!   With all the compliments being thrown the way of the Seahawks, they still have issues on the offensive line, in particular Anthony Bradford. Puck and Rob can’t figure out why they continue to play him and not give Christian Haynes a shot, but Rob does have a theory that he ran by Puck on why Bradford may be staying in there for now. Rob continues to gush over the play of Geno Smith and the offense despite them struggling in the middle of the game. D.K. Metcalf continues to be a force in the passing game and the running game looked much better with Zach Charbonnet this past weekend. Both Rob and Puck agreed that Charbonnet is a much better back than people give him credit for.  They wrap up their conversation  with thoughts on the rest of the NFC West and NFC and ask who is really better than Seattle right now?  Seattle is playing some really good football despite the opponents. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, is next up and they touch in on  the PAC-12's legal maneuvers, Gonzaga's potential addition to the conference, and how legitimate is John Mateer as a Heisman Trophy candidate?  They touch on Wazzu’s chances of running the table and creating chaos in the college football playoffs, the impact of media on what teams get the chance to play in the playoffs, and what happens if the Pac-12 can’t land UNLV and Air Force.  Where do they turn next?Lastly, Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports, joins Puck to talk Mariners baseball. Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio: Ohtani 60/60? Mariners failed season

Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio stops by to talk all things baseball.  They both marvel at Shohei Ohtani and Puck wonders out loud if he could get 60/60???   The Dodgers have the most pressure going into the season on them, but what are they missing and will that prevent them from winning the whole thing?  Who are currently the best teams in the AL and NL?  Jim’s answer for the American League may surprise you and it will definitely anger you!  Jim and Puck discuss how the Mariners, if they don’t get in, just completely blew a huge opportunity this season especially with how poorly teams like the Royals and Twins have played down the stretch.   Julio Rodriguez has turned his season around and a lot of credit has gone to Edgar Martinez. Puck asks Jim if Julio needs to ditch his personal hitting coach in Florida and just work exclusively with Edgar in the offseason.  Jim also offered Julio some advice to how he should handle this upcoming offseason.

"HawksNest" Curtis Crabtree & Tim Booth: Seahawks win sloppy, dominant defensive performance

Jim takes off to walk his dogs again, and Puck is joined by Tim Booth and Curtis Crabtree for their weekly “HawksNest” Show, where they breakdown the Seahawks win over the Dolphins.   The Seahawks were able to dominate the game on the defensive side, but how much is that because of the quarterback play for the Dolphins?  The season has been a pretty soft landing for Mike Macdonald and his new staff because they have faced Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett and Skylar Thompson.  The season will heat up next week when they take on the Detroit Lions.  They turn their attention to the offensive line.  It played better at times, but Anthony Bradford has been a disaster and why has Christian Haynes not taken over at the spot yet?  Regardless of the opponent, the Seahawks are 3-0 and have a two game lead in the NFC West thanks in part to a number of injuries affecting the other teams. Seattle must take advantage of the situation and they currently are doing that.
