Today’s Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett features Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy from a rainy parking lot in Sandy, Oregon. But, he’s got his headsets and a microphone and good to go! Puck and Jim open up the show discussing the Cougars effort and challenges of keeping John Mateer in Pullman.  Puck argues that the fanbase can make a difference and he believes he’ll stay. They also touch in on the breaking news that Abe Lucas has been activated off the PUP list and will play Sunday against the 49ers. How healthy and effective will Lucas be?  That remains a big question mark. Puck tells Jim that he missed a great basketball game on Tuesday night between the Mavericks and Warriors with Klay Thompson’s homecoming. Crowd was great. The play was sensational. But, on Klay’s night, it was Steph Curry stealing the show. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly visit.  They discuss the release of Tyrel Dodson.  How bad of an offseason did John Schneider have?Does Rob fee like Puck in wanting the team to lose out if they can’t get wins in the next two weeks?  What will the offseason have in store for D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith. Rob makes the point that you will have to choose. Lastly, Rob takes a look at the NFL draft and offers his thoughts on a conversation had with Mike Garafolo about the upcoming draft. Ryan Divish, Seattle Times, joins the show for his “Cold Stove” M’s offseason chatter with Jason “Puck” Puckett. Divish is once again substitute teaching at his former high school in Havre, Montana.  They open up discussing why catcher Cal Raleigh should have won the Silver Slugger Award over Salvador Perez.   The conversation then turns to their offseason look at the third base position. Currently the only internal option to play third base is Josh Rojas.  Ryan thinks they’ll bring Rojas back but he won’t primarily be the third baseman and that they will have to find another option there, most likely via a trade.  Ryan believes you could have a situation where Rojas and Dylan Moore will platoon at second base. Ryan also gets into the teams desire to bring Justin Turner back and their preference to trade Luis Castillo in the offseason. And, Divish contemplated the idea that Puck brought up about trading for Phillis third baseman Alec Bohm. Would that be a good fit for the M’s?Lastly, Puck wraps up with “Hey, What the Puck!?”  It’s time for Cougar fans to get out and support their players. This weeks ‘Old Crimson Cougars Podcast with Jason “Puck” Puckett and Paul Sorensen, Jim Moore and Jamey Vinnick, Cougfan.com.  They take a quick look back at the Utah State game and chatted how it was a relatively easy win.  Puck did wonder why John Mateer was playing late into the game, but understood that Jake Dickert probably wanted some style points.  The majority of the conversation surrounds the future of quarterback John Mateer.  How much will it cost to keep Mateer around?  Paul tells the boys that he has already heard that Mateer has a seven-figure offer on the table from another school.  Paul didn’t specifically know the school, but the poaching and competition has already started for Mateer. Can the Cougs compete on that level?  There is obviously a price tag for anyone and they all agreed that if Mateer receives over a million dollars to play football, than he should take that, because anyone would do that. They hope he doesn’t, but they understand why he would.  They chat about the upcoming against New Mexico and Paul and Puck try to convince Jim that it will be a much harder game than he thinks.  Jim is cocky about the game and doesn’t think Paul and Puck should be all that concerned. They wrap up the show talking about the job Jake Dickert has done and they all agree he’s done a masterful job of navigating this crazy football season and keeping his team focused on each week and not looking ahead.  

On this weeks Cougs Corner, host Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Washington State linebacker Keith Brown.  Brown talks about his journey from Lebanon, Oregon to Eugene to Louisville and now to Pullman. Brown details his upbringing in Lebanon and why it has shaped him to be the player and person he is today.  Keith told Puck that when he transferred to Louisville he felt lost, but coming to Pullman he once again found his love for football and he credits Jack Dickert for that love. The Cougs have three games left in the season, how difficult is to stay focused on the one game at a time mentality? Keith does acknowledge the difficulties with that perspective but says it’s been their mindset all season long.  

John Canzano, JohnCanzano.comjoins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly look into college football. They jump right into the discussion surrounding WSU quarterback John Mateer. What would he fetch money wise in the transfer portal?  John estimates that the going rate for a top QB is over a million dollars.  Can the Cougs afford to keep Mateer around?  Does he get a sense that Mateer wants to look elsewhere or is he happy in Pullman?   Should Jedd Fisch move on from Will Rogers and start Demond Williams the rest of the season.  The Huskies are not going to a major bowl game so why keep playing Rogers?  John and Puck both agree that the NIL has something to do with the decision surrounding Rogers. What are the expectations for the Cougars and the college football rankings tonight and what type of chaos do they need in front of them to sneak in to the CFP.  John was on the scene in Utah covering the “Holy War” between Utah and BYU. He reacts to the scene where the Utah AD claims that the game was stolen from them. Utah does not have an exit fee and can leave the Big 12 any time they want, would they jump and come back to the Pac-12?  John dishes on those chances. Lastly, John and Puck talk about the passing of former Blazers broadcaster Brian Wheeler. A gentle and troubled sole.

Our Washington State Football State Championship Playoff Preview show.  Jason “Puck” Puckett hosts and is joined by Todd Milles, ScorebookLive.wa, Jon Manley, Tacoma News-Tribune and Chris Egan, KING 5. The 16 seed state football playoffs get underway this week and the four preview the upcoming playoffs.  They go over the favorites in each classification.  Can Lake Stevens get a three-peat?  Who can prevent another Bellevue title at the 3A level.  What makes Royal so dominant in 1A.  Tumwater is once again the favorite in 2A and it’s a wide open 4A.   Roosevelt is one of the better teams in the 3A, but they are currently under investigation for recruiting violations, how does that change things in the 3A bracket. As the high school football season winds down, they four talk about the importance of covering high school athletics and why those three do the best in the region. 

Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 join Jason “Puck”Puckett for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast.  They discuss the chances of Seattle trying to avoid a 6-11 finish. What would it take for Seattle to spend their offseason in a rebuild mode?  Curtis doesn’t think Seattle is that far off, Puck and Tim aren’t so sure. If they do decided to play D.K. Metcalf in the offseason, do they have enough money to improve their offensive line?What happens if they move on from Geno Smith?  Curtis argues that you should be careful what you wish for.  Geno is not the number one problem. Even though Geno is not the problem, they don’t have a future quarterback on their roster.  The Cardinals look for real and the 49ers have Christian McCaffrey back so winning the division will be that much more difficult. Does John Schneider have the confidence of the ownership group to make wholesale changes to his roster in the offseason?

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy and his weekly visit with Tim Booth, Seattle Times and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 for the Ground Puck Seahawks Podcast. Puck and Jim start off talking about Puck’s visit to Pullman to watch the Cougs dismantle Utah State. Puck talks about the crowd in Pullman and celebrating his anniversary with his wife Saturday night in Moscow, Idaho! Since there was no Seahawks game to go over, Puck and Jim chat about where they are headed. If the Seahawks finish 6-11, what will there offseason look like? At that point, a rebuild should definitely be on the table for the Seahawks. The Seahawks need to revamp their offensive line, can they do that if they have too much money tied up with their skilled position players?Russell Wilson continues to shine for the Steelers, in fact, some in the media are already talking about Pittsburgh about being a sneaky Super Bowl contending team. If Wilson keeps this up he will win the NFL comeback player of the year. Things are unraveling in Dallas and Puck and Jim can’t believe that Micha Parsons called out his head coach Mike McCarthy publicly!  Also, because Puck and Jim are degenerate gamblers that can’t figure out how the Seahawks are only getting +6.5 against the 49ers. Lastly, Utah is upset about the officiating in their game with BYU. Chris Egan, KING 5, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly chat brought to you by Fatzach’s Pizza.  Egan and Puck jump right into the issues with the Seattle Seahawks and just how far are they away from winning a championship?  Should they pay D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith in the offseason?  Puck asks Egan the same question that Ryan Divish asked Puck this week, which Seattle professional team is the closest to winning a championship? The teams are the Seahawks, Mariners, Kraken and Husky football.  Egan agreed with Puck and Divish that the Seattle Mariners are the closest team in Seattle to winning a championship.  The main reason is that the Mariners have the best pitching staff in baseball and the best catcher in baseball.  Those other teams don’t have the best anything. Egan and Puck shifted the conversation to middle school sports and why their is a lack of coaching at that level, because Puck and Egan are now coaching basketball because their schools don’t have anyone that has stepped up.  Why are adults and teachers not coaching anymore?  The number one reason is that they don’t want to deal with parents. Egan also highlights a busy night in high school football as the state playoffs get underway.
