Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah.
After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences.
Thereafter, he completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah, after which he returned to America and completed his doctorate, in Religious Studies, from Yale University. Currently he is teaching at Rhodes College, in Memphis, TN.

Seerah 15 Torture to The Prophet and Abyssinia
In this video, Shaykh Yasir continues the difficulties that were arising in the quest for Islam and how our Prophet ﷺ sought to make adjustments but never once thought of abandoning our Deen.
For the spread of Islam to the farthest extent possible, the Prophet ﷺ realised he needed a place to congregate with his supporters. So, how did he choose an appropriate place for this purpose and what was the wisdom behind the choice? Shaykh Yasir elaborates.
The next major incident was the first immigration to Abyssinia which is in Africa. When these tactics of torture and humiliation continued at the hands of the pagans, the Prophet ﷺ suggested to the Sahaba of migrating to Abyssinia. One has to imagine how difficult and utterly demotivating was the situation in Mecca for them to prefer going to Abyssinia over staying in Mecca. What were the wisdoms of choosing Abyssinia as the safety net? Listen intently and be mesmerised by the sheer intellect of our Prophet ﷺ.
When the Prophet ﷺ gave this command, 15 people migrated in total, 11 men and 4 women. Who were they and what criteria was to be met for the selected people to migrate?

Seerah 14 Torture and Persecution of the Weak
The series on the Seerah continues and Shaykh Yasir divulges numerous details on the torture and persecution of the weak. We are also acquainted with some famous names who set a praiseworthy example of bravery and dedication to the pursuit of Islam even in the wake of hardships and trials.
The famous incident that occurred relating to the jews was their challenge to the Prophet ﷺ to answer three questions - no one would know the answer except a true prophet from Israel:
The young men who entered a cave and slept a long time - only a prophet would know the details.
A man who travelled the world from the east to west.
Ask him about the ruh and what it is made of.
Eventually, Allah SWT revealed Surah Kahf to answer all these questions and Prophet ﷺ emerged victorious once again.
The first seven to revert to Islam were Ibn Masud, Abu Bakr, Ammar ibn Yasir, his mother Sumaya, Suhaib ar-Rumi, Bilal and al-Miqdad. As for the Prophet ﷺ, Allah protected through his uncle Abu Talib. As for Abu Bakr RA, then Allah protected him through his own tribe, the Banu Quhafa.
How Bilal ibn Rabah RA was tortured incessantly and how he kept a brave face in the wake of this torment and as a reward, how Allah raised his status in Islam makes for an interesting listen and should be heard to feel the greatness of these Sahabas who walked the face of this earth.
The torture of Yasir and Sumaya RA, and their two sons Muhammad and Ammar - is another heart wrenching story which tugs at our hearts and makes us appreciate our Deen more and makes us realise that people have gone to great lengths to propagate our Deen for us and it is our duty to honour them by commemorating them. The other well known sahabi who reverted very early is Suhayb ar-Rumi and his torment and torture is also explicitly explained.
The punishment for the wrongdoers is made very evident and makes us affirm the justice of Allah is imminent.

Seerah 13 Opposition from The Quraysh
In this video, Shaykh Yasir delves on the various other ways in which the Quraysh sought to oppose the message of the Prophet ﷺ and his quest for the propagation of Islam. Chief among these was putting a ban on the recitation of the Qur'an and advocating numerous ways to stop it from being heard by the people.another way was to to ridicule the Prophet ﷺ and his believers.
We also gather insight on the famous story wherein the three leaders of Quraysh went in secret to hear the recitation of the Prophet ﷺ. It makes for an interesting listen and is not to be missed.
The narration of the famous incident of outright bribery that transpired in connection with Utbah ibn Rabi'ah is up for discussion and numerous details come to the fore. Utbah was from the Banu Hashim and was a man of wisdom and he was a distant cousin of the Prophet ﷺ. Major lessons in facing trials can be inculcated through this story and should be listened to fully fathom the greatness of our Prophet ﷺ even in such trying circumstances and not leaving the side of Islam even for a second.

Seerah 12 Declaration of Prophethood
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi picks the next topic in the Seerah to be that of the series of events that enable the declaration of Prophethood.
The stages of dawah are five, each is a legitimate stage for any muslim community. What are they? We get suitable answers.
How did the idol worshippers oppose this message of the Dawah of the Prophet ﷺ? There were many ways that were adopted by the people to achieve their means. Listen intently and understand how these methods influence one in the day to day lives too.
The entire story of Abu Talib intertwined with the Prophet ﷺ quest for propagation of Islam is an interesting listen with numerous facts and information coming to the fore. It shows the ultimate test of trials and tribulations on the part of both Abu Talib RA and Prophet ﷺ and how their relationship saw different turns because of this.
Why did not Allah make Abu Talib heart turn towards Islam even though the love of the Prophet ﷺ for his uncle was never a hidden thing. What was Allah’s wisdom behind this? Shaykh Yasir provides answers.
Next up for discussion are the uncles of the Prophet ﷺ and how each one is different from the other. Four people, all sons of the same father, and all uncles of the greatest to live. All of this goes to show that our fathers and uncles and sons will not help us. Seerah 11 Story of Waraqah Ibn Nawfil and Revelation Continued
In this video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi dissects the entire happenings that transpired amidst the Second Revelation to our beloved Prophet ﷺ.
Numerous questions come to the fore and each question is explicitly elaborated upon with impeccable answers. For instance, how was Surah Muddaththir revealed? What verses were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ from this Surah initially?

Seerah 10 Zayd Ibn Harithah And Beginning of Revelation
