Seerah 35 The Preparation For Badr
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details about a number of beneficial policies that were new and impossible to implement in Mecca
Economic policy -
All business must be done in this book
No taxes
Spiritual development - concerning Ramadan, Zakat and of course, Salah.
Political and military development - concerning Jihad. Explicit details have been shared about the stages of Jihad too.
The Prophet ﷺ and the sahabah engaged in many expeditions which had some specific goals:
Show the strength of the Muslims as an independent, political, economical and strong force to the Quraysh.
To deprive the Quraysh of money which was their key strength.
Increase the size of the Islamic State
Next, we get acquainted with the two types of military expeditions - the Ghazwa and the Sareeah. Which were they and how many were they in number?
The first expedition where some fighting occurred was on the sareeah of Ubaydah ibn al-Harith and Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas was the first person to throw an arrow in the way of Allah. The first significant expedition without any bloodshed was the Ghazwa tul Ushayra. The Prophet ﷺ took around 200 sahabah to attack the annual caravan that went up to Syria. And it had most of the wealth from Mecca. The leader of Mecca was Abu Sufyan and so this was sort of a precedent to the Battle of Badr.
The other was the sareeah tul Nakhla in which some sahaba were sent to find out information outside of Mecca which is when they saw a caravan with booty and decided to capture it in the sacred month of Rajab, killing one person in the process. The Prophet ﷺ said "I didn't tell you to fight or kill anyone". And Allah revealed the verse in Surah Baqarah. What was this verse? Listen intently and be mesmerized in the judgement of Allah in this difficult time.
These expeditions lead to the battle of Badr which is one of the biggest miracles in Islam and Allah called it the 'day of Furqan' - A victory that was unprecedented.

Seerah 33 The Treaty And Constitution of Madinah
The next major incident of the early Madani period is the treaty and constitution of Madinah. So what exactly is this treaty?
The treaty is four issues.
Clauses related to Muslims
Clauses related to the Jews
Clauses related to the pagans
Clauses related to everyone in general
There are some misinterpretations regarding the status of the treaty in question and Shaykh Yasir attempts to deconstruct it and present the matters before us. And we also come face to face with the deemed benefits of this treaty and what is implied in the lives of all the sects of people in Madinah. Do listen intently to have a clear picture of the time.
Shaykh Yasir examines the happenings in Madinah after the Prophet ﷺ arrived here. He commences his work by first building a masjid which is the basis of Tawheed and is a fundamental of Islam. He then establishes a connection or a strong bond between the Muhajirun and the Ansar - by muakkar (pairing) by the formation of the treaty that affirms the status of the Muslims, Jews etc.
Why aren't non Muslims allowed into Mecca and Madinah? What is the ruling of the fiqh behind this? A number of conditions were set at the time ? What were they?
What is Jaziratul Arab? Shaykh Yasir provides answers and also gets us to understand on the boundaries of Jaziratul Arab and what is allowed and what is forbidden here.

Seerah 32 The People of As Suffa
This lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi commences with a detailed discussion about the establishment of the Islamic calendar. Which year would be the first year, which month would take precedence over other months in being the first month and many more such questions came to mind and were addressed .
How did the early immigrants perceive madina to be? Did it tally with their imagination of it? They did not like it because they missed their previous home a tad too much. What does the Prophet ﷺ do about this? He made a special dua for the muhajiroun that "O Allah, make Madinah beloved to us like we used to love Mecca, or even more. O Allah, bless us in our food measurements; oh Allah remove the bad weather and plagues (Madinah had more plagues than Mecca) and throw it out". Needless to say, this dua was answered and to this date, we feel the peace and tranquility in this region like nowhere else.
We also are acquainted with the generosity and good nature of the Ansar , especially towards the Muhajirun. So much so that the Prophet ﷺ said, "If I could I would give up my lineage and be with you. Were it not for the Hijrah I would have been one of you. If all of mankind went in one direction and the Ansar went in another direction I would go with the Ansar". The Prophet ﷺ was immensely pleased with them and showed his appreciation always.
The concept of Muakar is also explicitly elucidated and we get to know the nuances behind this aspect.

Seerah 31 Building of The First Mosques in Islam
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi reveals how the first few days were for the Prophet ﷺ after his arrival in Madinah. We also get information regarding the first two Masjids he built and the benefits we can derive from them. Also, the details regarding the first ever Salatul Jumu'ah that happened in a few days are explicitly explained.
Regarding the preference of Masjids, a sahabi came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him "which is the masjid referred to by Allah in which He says, "Verily the masjid that was built upon taqwa from the first day, this has more right you pray in it. In this masjid there are men who love to purify themselves.'?" The Prophet ﷺ said "It is mine". So which one? Its both. “The verse applies to both masjids that were built upon taqwa from the first day.
The first Juma'a the Prophet ﷺ prays is in the middle of Mecca and Madinah and the khutbahs were 3-5 minutes long. It laid emphasis on the following: generosity;the certainty of death and that Allah would ask every one of them about what he had been given and how he spent it.
In a span of 5 days ,the Prophet ﷺ built two masjids, and a third indirect masjid was built. The Prophet ﷺ masjid was the central and the largest. The masjid was built first even before the house. It shows us these houses of Allah were the ones that have been praised highly in the Quran. Allah has encouraged and allowed people to worship and glorify Allah in these Houses of Allah - the Masjids.
An issue that needed to be addressed by the Prophet ﷺ was -"how should we call the people to prayer?" Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the origin of the Azaan and how it came into being. Who was involved in this monumental decision and what gave them that stature?
Listen intently and get all your queries answered beautifully.

Seerah 30 The Beginning of The Madani Era
This lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi sheds light on the aspect of immigration to Madina and the technicalities of immigration. Was it an optional or a compulsory act?
The story of a sahabi who converted after the Prophet ﷺ migrated to Madinah is that of Jundah ibn Dhamura. This story makes for an interesting listen because of the sheer sincerity in following the rules of the Hijrah as was suggested at the time in spite of being challenged strength wise and much more.
When did the Prophet ﷺ migrate to Madinah? The opinion that is clearly agreed upon was that it happened in the month of Rabi Ul Awwal. It was the first Islamic year and the month of the Hijrah was the first month that corresponded to September 622 CE.
The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Kuba and waited for Ali ibn Abi Talib, Aisha RA and Asma RA and when they arrived he entered Madinah with them on a Friday. The Ansar took the Prophet ﷺ into Madinah and every sahaba wanted him to live with them. It was then decided to let the Prophet ﷺ camel walk freely and the Prophet ﷺ would reside wherever the camel chose to sit.the camel chose to sit near the house of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari who was from the tribe of Banu Najar. The Prophet ﷺ lived at the house of Abu Ayyub al Ansari for 6 months until his own house and Masjid was built.
The Masjid that was built had three main doors - Bab Rahmah (Door of Mercy), Bab Jibril (Door of Gabriel), Bab al-Nisa' (Door of the Women).

Seerah 29 Introduction to The Madinan Phase
This video is mainly delving on the topic of the demographics of Madina and how did this city get populated and who were the tribes that occupied this blessed city.
The two major tribes to occupy Madina were - Arabs and Jews. there were three Jewish tribes - Banu Qaynuqa, Banu Qurayza and Banu Nadir. The lineage of the Arab tribes is clearly mapped ot and hence, there seems to be no trouble deciphering information about them.
Where did the Jews come from? There are many theories for this and more light is shed on this topic by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. We also get ample information on the number of people in Yathrib at the time and the figure roughly counts upto 20,000.
There are three tribes in Madina - the Ansar, the Muhajirun and the Jews.
The video culminates with details of the anticipation of the Ansar for the arrival of the beloved Prophet ﷺ into the city of Madina and how they were yearning to catch a glimpse of the Messenger of Allah SAW.
Al Bara ibn Azim narrates ,"I saw the Ansar all dressed up and coming out. Over 500 men came outside; all of them armed and dressed to accompany the Prophet ﷺ. The women climbed up on the houses. For the first time we get a glimmer of hope that change is in the air. And that we can sense the blessings of Allah will flourish a new era.”

Seerah 28 Lessons From The Hijrah Emigration
This talk by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi highlights the lessons we can learn, imbibe and inculcate from the hijrah or Emigration.
We are acquainted with the story of Umm e Ma’bad and how her husband and she accepted Islam and what made them to do this. The Prophet ﷺ made da'wah even along his way , inviting people to Islam and thinking about saving people.
What can we learn from the Hijrah? What does it try to teach us?
The meticulous planning and preparation for the Hijrah as is cited in numerous instances and the sheer thought process into the detailing is something to be admired if not be mesmerised by given the dire and most trying of circumstances they were in.
Abu Bakr RA is the ONLY sahabi whose companionship has been testified by Allah in the Qur'an and to go against him is to go against the Word of Allah SWT.
Why did Allah choose Yathrib(Madinah) as the destination for the Hijrah over all the places in the world, say for example, Abyssinia?
Strategic location and proximity to Mecca.
Magnanimous city from a military viewpoint.
Indomitable spirit of the people of Madinah made it the perfect group to propagate Islam.
Many blessings have been ordained for the city of Madinah, among which are:
The Prophet ﷺ made Dua for Madinah - "cause us to love Madinah as much us we loved Mecca or more than this".
It has the mountain of Uhud where the Prophet SAW said "this is a mountain we love and it loves us". The Prophet ﷺ said Uhd is one of the mountains of Jannah.
The Prophet ﷺ also blessed the food of Madinah.
The Prophet ﷺ said "make Madinah double the blessings of Mecca".
The Prophet ﷺ said "whoever amongst you is able to die in Madinah let him do so, because I will intercede for him on the day of Judgement" Which implies that it is a huge blessing to die in Madinah.

Seerah - 27 The Hijrah Emigration to Madinah
In this video by Shaykh yasir Qadhi, we get acquainted with the Hijrah - Emigration to Madinah and its various facets. The incident of Hijrah is difficult to chronologically assimilate and hence, we rely on authentic sources to make a chain of events as they unfolded.
The Prophet ﷺ was among the final people to emigrate to Madinah. The actual Hijrah took place on Monday, 26th Safar of the 13th year of the Dawah which tallies with the 1st year of the Hijrah. What happened on the day? What made the Prophet ﷺ think of taking this step? Who accompanied him on this Hijrah? It was the good fortune of Abu Bakr As Siddiq RA to have the coveted honour and privilege. When our beloved Prophet ﷺ received permission to take Abu Bakr RA , it was only then that he was given the nod to accompany him.
Abu Bakr RA had a plan on how to undergo this important journey. Abu Bakr RA planned to stay in the cave for three nights and appointed three people to manage three tasks. The first was his son Abdullah whose job was to supply them food and drink inside the cave and gave information about the people of Mecca and the whereabouts of the expeditions to track them down. The second person was Amr ibn Hufayra who was a freed slave and he had to make sure the footsteps of Abdullah ibn Abu Bakr are wiped away. The third man was Abdullah ibn Arkat and he was given the job to lead them to Madinah through a secret passage.
What were the happenings in the cave of Thawr? Listen intently and get mesmerised by the ways in which Allah SWT showers his rahmah on his beloved people.

Seerah 26 The Early Emigration to Madinah
In this video, details are disclosed on the early steps towards migration to Madinah and how the Ansar were a force to reckon with. The Ansar were developing their Iman and strength in Allah. They were the ones who said, "For how long will we let the Prophet ﷺ beg tribes for protection, why don't we adopt him and take him on?" And then they were the ones who volunteer "why don't we launch an offensive attack?" such was their keenness to protect the Prophet ﷺ.
The Prophet ﷺ had said after the conquest of Mecca "were it not for the Hijrah, I would of been a man of the Ansar, and if the Ansar went in one direction, and all of mankind went in another, I will follow the Ansar".
After the treaty of Aqabah, the Prophet ﷺ made an announcement to the Muslims, and he said "Allah has shown me the land you shall immigrate to. It's a land of date palms between two volcanic planes". And indeed Madinah is in the middle of two volcanos on either side. The reason for this is that the Quraysh would not willingly let this happen.
It's said the first person to immigrate was Abu Salama, the husband of Umme Salama. Suhayb ar Rumi, Umar RA's two companions- Hisham ibn Al As, the brother of Amr ibn Al As and Ayyash ibn Abi Rabiah were also among the people who moved to Yathrib.
When the Prophet ﷺ migrated, he made dua for them and said, "Oh Allah save Ayaash, save Hisham, send your punishment on the Quraysh". And he kept on asking the Muslims "who will volunteer to save Ayaash etc". Saving them meant walking into Mecca itself which was full of Quraysh. However, finally Al Waleed ibn Waleed, Khalid's older brother volunteered and said "I will do it". And so he travelled to Mecca and Allah blessed him to find out where the dungeon was, and he was able to break into it, rescue both of them and bring Ayaash and Hisham back.
