Understanding Calamities And Tragedies
Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi divulges details on the reason behind calamities and tragedies in our lives and what is Allah showing us through them?
Wisdom of calamities and musibah in our lives:
The Rabb is All Powerful and we are his abd.
To understand that our knowledge is limited.
No one has the right to challenge Allah on the happening of a calamity. Whenever we question Allah’s Hikmah, we do not portray belief.
When we are faced by a calamity,we can distinguish real faith from virtual faith of the creation.
When evils come, they bring out the good in people.
Allah wants us to taste the consequence of some of our misdeeds in this world.
It is a trial that brings us closer to Allah SWT.
Allah has praised patience in the Qur'an like nothing else. Patience can only come in the face of a calamity.
Calamities and afflictions remind us this world is not our ultimate destination.

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 20 Paradise And Conclusion Of Surah
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now discusses verses 105 to 110 which deal with the connection between Eman (faith) and A'mal (action) and also, the Conclusion of Surah Al Kahf.
“Verily those who believe and do righteous deeds there is for them Gardens of Paradise for their entertainment.”
The verses imply that the Garden of Jannah contains all the bounties and among it is the Firdaus that is the best and the most privileged gardens of Paradise.
“Say: ‘If the sea became ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, the sea would certainly be exhausted before the Words of my Lord were exhausted, even though We brought the like of it to help’.”
Kalimat Rabbi means the divine promises and the created things or Divine revelations and whatever has a sign from Allah. Thus, everything on this earth with its each and every cell is one of the Words of Allah.
“Say: ‘I am only a mortal like you. It is revealed unto me that your God is (only) One God. Therefore, whoever hopes to meet his Lord (in Hereafter) let him do righteousness, and make none sharer of the worship due unto his Lord.”

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 19 Day Of Judgement And Greatest Losers
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses verses 99 to 105 that deals with the Day of Judgement, the Blowing of the horn,Seeing Jahannam (Hell), the verdict of those who never heard of Islam and those who will be at the greatest loss.
“…and the Trumpet will be blown, then We shall gather them (all) together.”
From these verses, we gather that at the end of this world and at the beginning of the coming world, there will happen firstly, destruction of all human beings and the living creatures and secondly, the resurrection of the dead.
“And on that day, We shall present Hell to the disbelievers exposed (to their view).”
The Hell, with its different painful punishments will appear before us in its entirety and clarity and its mere observation itself is a dreadful punishment for us.
“Say: ‘Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in (their) deeds?” “Those whose effort is lost in this world’s life, while they think that they are working good deeds.”
We gather insight on the true meaning of being the biggest losers and how it would be.
“They are those who disbelieved in the signs of their Lord and meeting Him (in Hereafter) so their deeds became null, and on the Day of Resurrection We assign no weight for them.”
The verses imply that the disbelievers who denied the Divine Revelations and the Rewards of Allah have spoiled their deeds and hence, will not be worthy and respectable with Allah on the Day of Resurrection. He will not heed them, He will despise them since they have nothing which can be worthy and measurable. There will be no scale for them on the Day of Hereafter since they have nothing of worth to weigh on it.

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 17 Story Of Dhul Qarnayn
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges information from verses 83 too 98 that deal with essentially the story of Dhul Qarnayn.
“And they ask you about Dhul Qarnayn. Say: ‘I will recite unto you a remembrance of him’.”
The beginning of this verse shows that the story of Dhul Qarnayn was being discussed among people before they came to the Prophet SAW. why was it such an interesting topic? The Tafsir by Shaykh Yasir puts to rest many questions that intrigue us and deserves a fair listen.
Some pointers from the Tafsir are as follows:
This story teaches us that no work can be fully done in this world without its means. Therefore, Allah gave the means of success to Dhul Qarnayn.
No government can embrace victory without encouraging people and punishing the evildoers. This is the very principle which Dhul Qarnayn utilized.
A vast just government cannot turn away from the varieties of the life of people and their different conditions.
Security is the foremost condition of a safe social life which is why Dhul Qarnayn undertook the most laborious works to provide it with them.
An able leader must be content with what Allah has bestowed upon him and should not be greedy for wealth.
Power, vigour, cleverness, wealth and authority should never shroud greatness in works which was beautifully shown by Dhul Qarnayn.

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 16 Khidr Explains Incidents To Musa
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi deals with verses 80 to 82 that deal with the following topics:
If one needs something to be blessed, one should ensure for it to be associated with Allah.
Parents of the boy who was killed were righteous and their love for their child would have negatively impacted their righteousness and relationship with Allah.
The rewards of losing a child.
Attributing negative to self and positive to Allah SWT.
“And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.” “So we did intend that their Lord should change him for them for one better in purity and nearer in affection.”
In this verse, the Qur’an refers to the secret of the second event - the murder of the lad.
“And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.”
If that boy continued to live then he would have been a source of disgrace or creation of one for his faithful parents.
Finally, in order to remove any doubt from Mus AS, Khidr assured Musa AS that he did not perform any of the deeds at his free will, but it was the command of Allah that he followed. And, this was the mystery that Musa AS could not bear patiently.

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 15 Khidr Builds A Wall In Front Of Musa
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details on verses 77 to 79 that deal with the continuation on Musa and Khidr AS journey, the building of a wall by Khidr builds a wall, failure on the part of Musa to keep his part of the deal and an explanation by Khidr on why he punched a hole in the boat.
“So they twain departed; until, when they reached the people of a town. They asked its people for food, but they refused to make them guests. Then they found in it a wall about to fall, and he (Khidr) set it up. He (Musa) said: ‘If you had wished you could have taken a wage for it!’”“He (Khidr) said: ‘This is the separation between me and you. Now I will inform you of the interpretation of what you could not bear patiently’.”
“…He (Musa) said: ‘If you had wished you could have taken a wage for it!’”
Musa AS thought that the action of Khidr was not just that a person might sacrifice like that for a group of people who were so mean. It was at this exact time that the separation of the learned man and Musa AS took place due to inability of Musa AS to execute patience on his part as he had promised earlier.
