The Importance Of Family Ties In Islam
Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi divulges various pointers when it comes to the importance of family ties in Islam in relation to the Ayah from Surah An Nisa below where Allah says:
‘O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.’
This Ayah clearly implores us to seek Taqwa in Allah through whom alone you are provided with worldly necessities. The providers of these necessities are more often than not one’s immediate family. Hence, it is of supreme importance and paramount that we take care of our family no strings attached. Just as are vigilant of the rights of Allah, so should we be aware and vigilant of the rights of the family.
Hence, it can be concluded that both go hand in hand and should be handled efficiently and effectively. Our family has a high status and importance, second to Allah. And within the family, the one whose rights supersedes everyone else’s is that of the parents.

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the blessings and virtues of being good to family & relatives. He also provides us with practical tips to deal with difficult family members.
The concept of the term ‘family', its composition and the stature of a family is illustrated explicitly in this video.
Of the people whom Allah has cursed in the Qur'an is cutting off from one’s family is one of the things that invites Allah Lanah which is worse than His Adhaab. It is the worst punishment of Allah.
What is the meaning of fulfilling the ties of kinship? It means to remain connected with your extended family in such a way that is acceptable and in the conforms of the tradition and culture of your society. It is also Mustahab to give Zakah to your extended family. We should also show love and compassion as one deems fit to our family as it has been validated in the Shariah.

Born To Die
Born To Die - a talk by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. It's a frightening title isn't it? But there really is nothing to be frightened about. Certainly not once you've listened and absorbed the information imparted to you.
Despite what the movies portray, there is no immortality on this Earth. All that breathes must leave but what you need to know and then constantly be in a state of remembrance is that YOU are in control of what you leave behind - family, deeds, legacies.
Do you plan to leave an everlasting legacy like that of Imam Bukhari whose writings are referenced daily till today? Imagine for a moment that you are leaving behind a legacy that continues, in fact persists in reaping rewards for you even after you've left this earthly abode. Wouldn't that be fantastic?
Then comes the next question-are we required in Islam to leave legacies? If yes, then what types of legacies do we leave? The answers, explanations and proof to support all this and more is addressed by Sheikh Yasir Qadhi in this profound talk Born To Die.

Pearls From The Quran 21 - Ramadan 2017
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi provides a brief insight on what the goals of Ramadan were, and what we should carry forward beyond Ramadan for the rest of the year.
One of the main purposes of Ramadan is to reacquaint us with the beauty and the sweetness of worshipping Allah SWT. The level of our Iman is at an all time high and nothing is greater than worshipping Allah.
Yet another blessing of Ramadan is community. The pulse of the Ummah is strong even as we are surrounded by trials and tribulations. Ramadan should also make us appreciate the word of Allah - The Qur'an.
What have I got from the month of Ramadan? Will I continue to taste those same blessings that I acquired during Ramadan? These are some of the questions we should ponder upon and reinstate that high level of Iman that we have so beautifully achieved during Ramadan.

Pearls From The Quran 20 - Ramadan 2017
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates on the Islamic principle of Qadr and why we believe in Qadr.
The belief of Qadr is based on 2 premises - firstly, Allah is in control of everything and the second is that Allah is Ar Rahman. These two pillars are mentioned in numerous verses of the Qur'an and in various Ahadith.
There are many benefits to believe in Qadr:
Our heart achieves a sense of peace and contentment.
It leads to optimism and we look at the bright side and know that there is some wisdom in any difficulty upon you.
It brings about a sense of generosity towards the orphans and the poor within ourselves.
It makes the Muslim brave. No benefit or adversity can befall you except that Allah has willed for it to happen and not in the hands of anyone else.
It brings a sense of Tawakkul and strong Iman within oneself.

Pearls From The Quran 19 - Ramadan 2017
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates on the concept of Qadr as discussed in Surah Ad-Dukhan verses 1-3.
Laylatul Qadr is referenced twice in the Qur'an - Surah Al Qadr and in Surah Ad Dukhan. Allah describes this blessed night as the night on which every matter and command will be decided.
One of the fundamentals of Iman is to believe in Qadr. We do not try to unravel the mystery of Qadr because that amounts to rejecting our faith.
Allah announces to the angels about the aspects regarding Qadr:
Allah wrote the Qadr 50000 years.
When Allah extracted the awrah of Adam AS, it was decided by Him who is going to Heaven and Hell.
When Allah blows the Ruh into a zygote, his fate is decided - his gender and his Rizq.
Nothing changes Qadr other than Dua and hence, it is absolutely essential that we stand in prayers and make Dua for the best Qadr on Laylatul Qadr.

Pearls From The Quran 17 - Ramadan 2017
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates on the dangers of idle talk and how to protect one's tongue as referenced in verse 63 of Surah Al-Furqan.
The importance of guiding the tongue against vain talk is illustrated in the fact that it is a sign of believers. The Prophet ﷺ warned against the dangers of vain talk. When the tongue is involved in sin, it demonstrates the filth of the heart.
Things to avoid with your tongue:
We should leave anything that is not our business - gossiping
To mention something negative about a person in his absence - backbiting
Slander
Lying
Vulgarities and curse words
