1/27/23: Bitcoin is up 30% this Year - Here's Where It's Going Next
It's Friday, January 27th. No longform interview. Today we will be visited by Jean with her word of the week and a song that's been written about me by Rich MADDOW. But I want to talk with you today about crypto because I made a comment earlier this week on this podcast that has resulted in a lot of head scratching and people wanting to know, Ric, why did you say what you said? I said that by summer of 2025, Bitcoin's price will be around $150,000. That's what, a 7x return in the next two and a half years? Why on earth would I make such an audacious prediction? Well, that's what I'm going to explain to you right now. -----Links from today’s show:Fidelity Digital Assets SurveySelf-Care with Jean Edelman podcastToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFsInvesco QQQ-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteThe Truth About CryptoHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/26/23: Go Under the Hood for EV Investment Opportunities
It's Thursday, January 26th. You know, the world is moving rapidly toward clean technologies, renewable energy, hydrogen fuel cells, electric vehicles. A lot of this is changing the way we power our lives. This is all because governments around the world are demanding that we meet aggressive climate change goals. Most countries are calling for net zero emissions by 2070, some as soon as 2050. -----Links from today’s show:Global X ETFs + Wall Street Journal websiteGlobal X Copper Miners ETF (COPX)Disruptive Materials ETF (DMAT)Gold Explorers ETF (GOEX)Hydrogen ETF (HYDR)MLP and Energy Infrastructure ETF (MLPX)MLP ETF (MLPA)Silver Miners ETF (SIL)Uranium ETF (URA)Today’s sponsors:Global X ETFsSchwab-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteThe Truth About CryptoHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/25/23: Why You'll be as Healthy at Age 95 as You were at 55
Yesterday, I blasted TIAA over their stupid survey that forced people to decide whether 60-year-olds would live to 76, 82 or 88. And then they said the correct answer is 82, when in fact the real answer is that if you're alive in 2030, you'll probably live to age 100 or beyond. If you want to understand why and you missed my podcast yesterday, just go listen to it. But there's one big nagging question. Do you really want to live to age 100?-----Links from today’s show:McKinsey Health Institute on longevityToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFsInvesco QQQ-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteThe Truth About CryptoHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/23/23: A Possible Recession, Layoffs, The Hemline Index, and More
It's Monday, January 23rd. Tomorrow at noon eastern time, I'm presenting a 90-minute webinar for the Museum of American Finance and the New York Public Library. The webinar's on Financial Planning in the Age of Longevity. The webinar is open to the public and you can register for free in the show notes below. Some 63% of Americans say that inflation pushed them off track financially. 59% are living paycheck to paycheck. 60% say they can't pay an unexpected expense of $500. 54% have reduced the amount that they're putting into their retirement accounts because of inflation. And 43% say they've withdrawn money from their retirement accounts to pay their bills. And you do have an explanation for this, don't you? Well, we all know the tremendous pressure that the economic environment has placed us under in 2022 because inflation was near double digits - 8.7% Social Security increases based on the rate of inflation. And we know that the stock market had a terrible year, the bond market had a terrible year, crypto had a terrible year. So between the fact that your expenses were radically rising at the very moment that your assets were fundamentally falling, we're now discovering ourselves with layoff after layoff after layoff. -----Links from today’s show:Today's webinar for the Museum of American FinanceStudy: The Center for Retirement and Policy Studies at MorningstarThe Hemline IndexToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFs-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteThe Truth About CryptoHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/19/23: How Experiential Technologies are Changing the Way We Work and Play
Today I want to talk about experiential technologies - not exponential - experiential. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Metaverse: these breakthrough technologies are helping businesses and consumers function more efficiently. And all of this is going to transform the way we shop, the way we play travel, drive, learn, conduct business, even how we make new scientific discoveries. Some of this will be stuff you've either never heard of or don't understand. Things like the Metaverse or IoT, the Internet of Things. But you certainly know about robotics and AI and e-commerce. There's also cloud computing data centers, cell towers, video games, EA Sports, all of these are part of experiential technologies and they're changing everything about how we work and also about our leisure. -----Links from today’s show:Global X E-commerce ETF (EBIZ)Global X FinTech ETF (FINX)Global X Internet of Things ETF (SNSR)Global X Cloud Computing ETF (CLOU)Global X Social Media ETF (SOCL)Global X Artificial Intelligence & Technology ETF (AIQ)Global X Robotics & Artificial Intelligence ETF (BOTZ)Global X & Wall Street Journal ReportToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFsSchwab-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteThe Truth About CryptoHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/18/23: Why Housing Prices May Fall by 38% in Some Markets
It's January 18th. Yesterday I told you that real estate prices are going to fall this year by a lot - 10% or 20% or more in some markets. I've gotten a lot of questions asking me why I said that. Well, here's why. It's all about home affordability. You can't buy a house unless you can afford to buy a house. I mean, you might not be able to afford a candy bar, but no one stops you from buying it. If you don't have cash in your pocket, you just use a credit card. But if you want to buy a house, you need tens of thousands of dollars in cash just for the down payment. And then you've got to qualify for the mortgage. So here are the numbers. If you want to buy the average US home today based on today's mortgage rates, the average household in America would spend 30% of their income on their mortgage. Can the average household afford that? Zillow calls the situation bleak. -----Links from today’s show:National Association of Realtors researchHome onChainTeller protocolThe Truth About CryptoToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFsInvesco QQQ-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/17/23: Which did More Damage to Your Portfolio Last Year, Bonds or Bitcoin?
It's Tuesday, January 17th. Do you remember what I told you to do one year ago? Yeah, you don't remember. But I do. Because I was right. I told you one year ago to get out of bonds. I sure hope you did. The Federal Reserve, as you know, raised interest rates more quickly last year than at any time since the 1980s. And the result was that bonds ended up having their worst year ever. Yeah. 10 year Treasuries lost more money last year than in any year since 1788. Treasuries, in fact, not only lost a lot of money last year, they lost a lot of money the year before that. Two years in a row, the bond market fell in value. The last time that happened was 1959. Bitcoin can recover; your bonds can't.-----Today’s sponsors:Global X ETFsInvesco QQQ-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page

1/13/23: An Alzheimer’s Breakthrough – But Who Can Afford It?
Today is Friday, January 13. On today's show - The FDA has just approved a new drug called Leqembi. If you have early symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease, it can slow the cognitive decline. However, the cost makes it prohibitive for most people - at $26,000 per year! And to make matters worse, Medicare won't pay for it. This is bad news for the estimated six million people in the U.S. suffering from the disease. I'll also take a deep dive into crypto with Lex Sokolin. And finally, we'll hear Jean's word of the week.-----Links from today’s show:FDA Approves LeqembiThe Truth About Crypto by Ric EdelmanSelf-Care with Jean Edelman PodcastRic's 4 Free Master ClassesToday’s sponsors:Global X ETFsInvesco QQQ-----Subscribe to podcast updatesThe Truth About Your Future websiteHave a question for Ric?Follow Ric on social media:FacebookTwitterYouTubeInstagramDisclosure page
