4/24/23: 10% Return is Better than 8% -- But is 8% all that Bad?
A couple of weeks ago, I said that the biggest scam in investing today is ESG (environmental, social, governance), mutual funds and ETFs that invest with a filter so that they only invest in companies that pay attention to ESG values. I said that a lot of people have invested in ESG, and so that's pretty cool, right? You can align your investments with your values. But I also said that that's nothing but a sales pitch. 4/20/23: Is A College Degree Still Worth the Cost?
A new poll conducted by The Wall Street Journal in collaboration with the University of Chicago found that 56% of Americans believe that a four-year degree is no longer worth the cost. Skepticism is highest among those aged 18 to 34, the target demographic for colleges. The poll also found that only 44% of women, regardless of political affiliation, believe that college is worth it.
