InPresence 0073: The Wisdom of Nonsense

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities. Here Jeff focuses on a further development by Dr. Raymond Moody concerning the role of nonsense in enabling a greater appreciation for psychic realities, survival after death, and the world beyond the senses. He points out that many things we take for granted as normal and rational actually appear to be quite absurd (and even harmful). He also notes the use of nonsense in surrealistic art and poetry. InPresence 0072: The Necromanteion and The Psychomanteum

Here he describes the work of Raymond Moody, MD, who is considered the father of research into the near-death experience. Subsequently, Moody began exploring an approach to grief counseling based upon the ancient Greek temples where aspirants came to experience communion with the deceased. Moody developed a procedure for this purpose known as the psychomanteum. InPresence 0071: Intuition in Business

Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). InPresence 0066: Resonance with a Previous Personality

Here he revisits the suggestion that he was the American psychologist and philosopher, William James, in a past-lifetime. While he lacks evidence to support this hypothesis, he admits he finds that the possibility of such a connection stimulates his imagination. In particular, he examines the potential past-life identification with his mentor, Arthur M. Young, and William James’ father, the iconoclastic Henry James, Sr. (Recorded on April 26, 2018) For a complete, updated list with links to all of our videos — as well as many other opportunities to engage with and support the New Thinking Allowed video channel — please visit the New Thinking Allowed Foundation at http://www.newthinkingallowed.org.
