Indian Thought with Kiran Kumar Salagame
Kiran Kuman Salagame, PhD, is former chairman of the psychology department at the University of Mysore, India. He is also vice-president of the International Transpersonal Association. He is author of The Psychology of Meditation: A Contextual Approach.
Here he describes how Indian thought is a fusion of many influences — primarily Vedantist, Buddhist, and Jain. However, going back to ancient times, there were always materialists in the mix. Additionally, there is the influence of the prehistoric Indus Valley culture — whose language has yet to be deciphered fully. There is also a tension between the spiritual ascetics who withdrew from worldly activities and those spiritual practitioners who wished to have an impact in the material world. Above all, Indian thought is focused on processes of transcendence.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980).

Phenomena of High Strangeness with Barry Taff
Barry E. Taff holds a doctorate in psychophysiology with a minor in biomedical engineering. He worked at UCLA’s former parapsychology laboratory from 1969 through 1978. He also was investigated as a psychic subject, the results of which were published in Behavioral Neuropsychiatry. He is author of Aliens Above, Ghosts Below: Explorations of the Unknown. His website is www.BarryTaff.net.
Here he shares some personal experiences with apports, ostensible disembodied entities, and bilocation. Such phenomena are so rare and apparently impossible that most individuals simply deny them outright, even when witnessed. Yet they are consistent with the personal accounts of several guests on the New Thinking Allowed channel.

The Transformative Psychotherapy of Milton Erickson with Paul J. Leslie
Paul J. Leslie, EdD, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Aiken, South Carolina. He is professor of psychology at Aiken College. He is author of The Art of Creating a Magical Session: Key Elements for Transformative Psychotherapy, Low Country Shamanism: An Exploration of the Magical and Healing Practices of the Coastal Carolinas and Georgia, Potential Not Pathology: Helping Your Clients Transform Using Ericksonian Psychotherapy, and Shadows in the Session: The Presence of the Anomalous in Psychotherapy.
Here he discusses the significant, yet somewhat forgotten, influence of the late Milton Erickson upon the field of psychotherapy. Erickson had a unique gift of finding ways to profoundly influence positive change in his clients within a brief time period. Paul Leslie illustrates this intuitive process with several stories. Erickson’s methods were such that, sometimes, his colleagues wondered if he was going a bit crazy. Nevertheless, it has been possible to systematize his approach to some extent. Today there is a school of Ericksonian therapy.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga with Leanne Whitney
Leanne Whitney, PhD, is author of Consciousness in Jung and Patanjali. She is a transformational coach and also teaches yoga philosophy to yoga teachers. Her website is https://leannewhitney.com/.
Here she discusses the meaning of the Sanskrit terms yama, niyama, pranayama, asana, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi — as well as related concepts such as drishti, kaivalya, samskara, vriti, samyama and avidya. She points out that the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali can be read from either a dualist or non-dualist point of view. From the non-dualist point of view, everything is brahman or consciousness. Enlightenment, therefore, is not something to be achieved. It is already everywhere. We play hide-and-go-seek with ourselves.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.
