How to Write a Book in a Weekend

Recently, I decided to co-author a book about menopause. Although I wrote The Influential Voice myself, I chose to co-author this new book because I wanted to bring in a colleague and friend of mine, Dr. Alexandra Stockwell, who I deeply respect. I don't have children, and I'm not a medical doctor. However, Dr Stockwell does and is. And I wanted to have both of these points of view when it came to talking about menopause. The reason I decided to talk about this today is because we intentionally decided to write this book together in a single weekend. A few months ago, I had no idea that this was possible. And I'm hoping by sharing this experience that you'll also feel inspired to reexamine what you believe is possible, too. In this episode, we'll explore: The reason I felt strongly about writing a book about menopause and who it is for Why Dr. Stockwell and I decided to write a book in a weekend What that weekend looked like for us and how we prepared for it Why anything is possible when you make the decision to do what you desire More From Tricia Amplify your voice in 2023 with The Big Talk New Year Workbook Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

Rethinking the American Dream with Monica Harris

How to Start Rethinking the American Dream In today's episode, I am so excited to introduce you to Monica Harris - an inspiring activist, author, and attorney. Monica graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. She was a business affairs executive in the entertainment industry, and enjoyed the money and perks that many think accompany "success." Then, 12 years ago, she had an epiphany. She realized she was making more money each year, yet struggling to maintain her lifestyle. In 2011, she and her partner moved their family to Montana to pursue a more sustainable life. She still practices law, but when she looks up from her desk, she sees Douglas firs, white-tailed deer, and the occasional moose. It took her nearly forty years to unplug, but she's hoping that, together, we can do it a lot faster. In this episode, we'll explore: Monica's realization that she was chasing an American dream that no longer existed and the massive changes she made as a result Letting go of illusions and what you think your life should look like How to start rethinking the American dream and redefining what it means for you The way Monica is using her voice and living her life now Monica's current favorites: Book: The Celestine Prophecy, Speaker: Martin Luther King, Jr., and Podcast: Hidden Brain More from Monica Her book, The Illusion of Division Website: https://www.letsgetunplugged.com/ More from Tricia Order my book, The Influential Voice: Saying What You Mean for Lasting Legacy Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

What Do you Do With An Idea?

What Do You Do With an Idea — Even When Others Doubt You If you are tuning in from the United States, this episode is airing the week we celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has a lot of backstory to it. And it's also an opportunity for us to come together, give thanks, and celebrate our lives, our families, and our friends. In order to keep things short and sweet this week, so that you can get to making your delicious meals and gathering with the people important to you, I am going to read from a book that is also short and sweet. It's extremely, incredibly potent, too. The book is called What Do You Do With An Idea? written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Mae Besom. This story explores: What happens when we come up with a new idea The fear of what others will think of our idea What to do with an idea that seems too big, too odd, or too difficult The transformation that occurs when we believe in our ideas and take care of them More from Tricia Consistently Share Your Big Idea with Secrets of The Big Talk Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

An Amazing Speech on Women in Politics

A Speech on Women in Politics to Ignite the Feminist Fire Within You I'm super excited about today's episode because I'm going to be reading again from this incredible book by William Sapphire called Lend Me Your Ears: Great Speeches in History. Today, I am going to share a speech by the first female member of parliament, Lady Astor, where she discusses women in politics. In the book, Sapphire starts this section with a quote that says, "We realize that no one sex can govern alone. I can conceive of nothing worse than a man governed world except a one woman governed world." So, we're talking about equality here and about the importance of hearing all voices. And that's really important to keep in mind as you listen and as you think about how we can move forward in the world today. In this speech on women in politics, we'll explore: What it means to become a symbol Why being the first to do something is both picturesque and lonely The reason having a one-sided government doesn't work How we all effect politics and the way we can all contribute to creating a better world for the next generation More from Tricia Consistently Share Your Big Idea with Secrets of The Big Talk Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram Connect with me on Facebook Connect with me on LinkedIn Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com
