How Martial Arts Develop Your Inner Strength
— Melanie Gibson came back to taekwondo when her mind and heart were finally tired of fighting. Oddly enough, kicking and screaming in taekwondo class finally quieted the kicking and screaming inside her soul and mind. It forced her to grow up. Melanie became more optimistic and laughed a lot more. She stepped up to challenges and no longer felt threatened or intimidated by the people around her. Now that she knew how to fight, she no longer went looking for a fight. She took charge of her life and refused to allow herself to continue playing the helpless (and blameless) victim. Melanie found a strength in herself that had been silent for too long. This very life-changing wondrous experience has also sidelined Melanie with a very painful (and very expensive) injury. She did not plan to spend hours on the floor while a loaned-out machine bends her recovering leg back and forth. The fact is, Melanie got back into taekwondo for her mental health, not her physical health. Valeria Teles interviews Melanie Gibson — the author of "Kicking and Screaming: A Memoir of Madness and Martial Arts." Melanie Gibson was raised in Snyder, Texas, and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in 1997. She has a bachelor's degree in English from Texas Woman's University, a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. Melanie has worked in the healthcare industry since 2004, with roles as a hospital librarian, corporate trainer, and learning designer. Melanie continues to pursue advanced taekwondo black belt degrees and writes about martial arts and life in general on her blog Little Black Belt. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas. Kicking and Screaming: a Memoir of Madness and Martial Arts is her first book. Life Is A Gift And It Wants Your Presence
— After 20 years facilitating Ancestral Constellation healing workshops, Gary Stuart learned that 'life is a gift' -- no matter what it looks like or tragic events we and our forebears endured! We are here in spite of it all. The Universe and LIFE itself demands our presence. The price of admission is to Adapt or Die! Every species alive thrives in adversity and learns tenacity to strengthen its resolve. Everyone ALIVE shares these traits. Honor the strength and leave the suffering in the past with those passed where it belongs. This is how to show reverence and honor all who came before. Our time is too short to do anything else. No matter how many deeply rooted secrets or dynamics may lie in the shadows of your family system, there is a way out of the darkness. It is simple, profound, and completely healing. If you are willing to do the work, Constellation healing will lead to a restoration of love, order, and harmony for yourself and all concerned. Remember this analogy; when you change 1 drop of water in the ocean the whole ocean is changed -- impacted and adjusted. Valeria Teles interviews Gary Stuart — the author of "Healing Human History: Constellation Wisdom for the 21st Century." Gary Stuart is a three-time #1 International bestselling Author, Speaker and Personal Development expert, with over 45 years of experience. Embodied Healing: Energetic & Spiritual
— In today's western world, many therapy approaches focus on mental processes over embodied experiences, and bypass spiritual dimensions of the healing journey. It is Jess Maitri's belief that genuine healing must include all parts of a person-including their energetic and spiritual aspects. True insight needs to be experienced through the body, and witnessed within a conscious relationship in order to be fully integrated into their daily lives. Psychology can be similar to alchemy, as it has the capacity to transform the "unwanted" into something meaningful within the client's shadow or blind-spots. Many do not realize that Alchemy was the forerunner of modern chemistry, and practiced by mystics who worked to transform base elements into Gold. As an Embodied Alchemist, Jess assists you in transforming what is hidden in your subconscious such as old beliefs or programs, and brings it into the light where it can be witnessed and healed. Valeria Teles interviews Jessica Maitri — the Creator Of Yothera Method, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Yoga Therapist, Breathwork Practitioner, Intuitive Energy Healer, And Speaker. Jessica Maitri blends both eastern and western therapeutic approaches to embodied wellness. Her training in both western psychology and eastern embodiment practices inform her work with groups and individuals. The Yothera Method is a therapeutic modality used in both groups and individual work, that invites individuals deeply into the present moment, and meet life from a grounded and embodied perspective. She is deeply passionate about being part of the integrative medical model, creating a bridge between traditional mental health and holistic health. Jessica's work invites participants to deepen their exploration of Self, dive deep into their body's innate wisdom, and strengthen their trust in life and their own intuition. Making The Impossible A Reality
— "Trapped" is an understatement. You're a prisoner, living under the illusion of freedom, locked up in the jail of your own mind. Without the physical walls, bars, and guards, the prison is difficult to perceive. Yet it's always there, and you're living inside of it. You haven't been able to perceive it because it's in disguise and hidden from you in the best possible place—in plain sight. You even gave it a name. You dubbed it "reality." Your prison is disguised as your reality, and it's so well hid- den you could be facing a life sentence you'll never escape. You might get lucky and experience a traumatic event that forces you out after a few decades. Or you could do what is required to discover the prison yourself and break out before it's too late. Chris King spent years trapped in his own mental prison, and he now know that escaping it is not only possible but necessary to make the dent in the universe that you imagined, forever changing it. Free yourself! Valeria Teles interviews Chris King — the author of "Renegotiate Your Existence: Unlock Your Impossible Life." Imagine making the impossible, or even the unimaginable, a reality in 1/5 the time everyone thought it would take. And imagine doing it with zero stress. This is what is possible in "flow." "Pique-performance" executive coach and speaker Chris M. King sets up the conditions for flow, a.k.a. "the zone." He facilitates the journeys that lead to the discoveries that create sustainable advancements for organizations and individuals to exceed their personal and professional goals with velocity, and even renegotiate their existence! Chris has a particular expertise with professional women and women-led/focused teams, organizations, and initiatives, ensuring they are running their businesses and lives instead of their businesses and lives running them. Go from the status quo to Status Flow®. Chris successfully completed a master's program in spiritual psychology, spent four years working with the GAMC Neuroscience Institute. Emotional Well-Being & Embracing The Shadow
— How to cultivate a mindset about our emotions that embraces our "shadow" sides? All too often. Dr. Paola Lake encounters people who have sought to hide away sides of themselves that they consider to be "bad" or unlovable. They find themselves spending energy and time trying to exile these parts of self, when in fact, these parts often need compassion and healing in order to dissolve their hold. She embraces and uses many approaches that allow people to investigate parts of self that have been exiled using a model called Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as other approaches such as EMDR, meditation, and hypnosis for example. Each approach provides an opportunity to sit with the parts of us we seek to exile, understand their function, and to cultivate an attitude of compassion towards these parts and to release maladaptive beliefs about self- that are tied to these states. Valeria Teles interviews Dr. Paola Lake — a Rehabilitation Psychologist, Podcaster, And Speaker Dr. Paola Lake has a passion for helping people heal and recover from past trauma and adversity so that they can release the burdens of their past, overcome emotional blocks, and develop tools and strategies to help them realize their potential and achieve personal goals. Dr. Lake adopts a mind-body approach to healing. She strives to help people create enduring change that manifests itself in the form of greater clarity, self-compassion, an increased sense of possibility, greater connectedness to others and self, an ability to be present in the here and now, and a heightened sense of self-efficacy in their lives. Dr. Lake, owner of Lake Professional Psychology Corporation provides services to the general public, as well as police officers and veterans to help them heal from exposure to trauma and the darker side of human tendencies. She draws from over 20 years of experience working with survivors of sexual abuse, accident victims, psychiatric clients, and those suffering from low self-esteem, grief, anxiety, or depression. As well as work in private practice, Dr. Lake hosts a podcast, The Dr. Lake Show.
