Motherhood And The Radical Shift In Who You Are
— Those of us who never planned on becoming mothers can shift the tectonic plates of their being and, in the process, level their lives. As a result of this massive "disruption," you are shaken to the core and will be catalyzed into an expansion that swallows the life you leave behind whole, enabling you to live fully, heal the deepest parts of yourself, and emerge anew, not redesigned but rebuilt, able to create magic in your life in a way that might not have been possible otherwise. Vanessa's words and work are for women who want more than balance. Motherhood is approached from a completely different perspective. Energy management is involved, as well as soul management. It's not about balancing your checkbook and budgeting your time; it's about creating a radical shift in who you are. Valeria interviews Vanessa Broers — She is the author of "We Are One: How One Woman Reclaimed Her Identity Through Motherhood." From running away from summer camp at age six, to getting called to the principal's office at age 11 for writing a letter to the teacher telling the truth about disliking class, Vanessa Broers seems to have been born with an inability to behave or play by the rules. Guided ferociously by a devotion to truth, insatiable appetite for more and a refusal to compromise anything she loves, Vanessa was put on this planet to liberate women into their highest potential professionally, power spiritually and expression personally. She supports powerful women to unapologetically unleash the full truth of who they are so they can create magic, live fiercely incredible lives and enjoy every single moment - while experiencing unprecedented levels of success. Our Existence Depends On Our Tendency To Heal
— Our existence as living creatures depends on our tendency to heal. It is one of the most vital aspects of who we are. Despite that, most of us are not aware of it. Not even to mention appreciate it. As a result, we rely on medicine to treat and cure our illnesses. The power of medicine can accomplish many miracles - Without it, I would be dead. However, medicine cannot heal us. The reason we heal is because we have a tendency to do so and by appreciating this process, often, its effects can be amplified. ~ Ed. Valeria interviews Ed Cohen — He is the author of On Learning to Heal, or What Medicine Doesn't Know as well as A Body Worth Defending: Immunity, Biopolitics and the Apotheosis of the Modern Body. He is Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University and hosts a therapeutic practice for those interested in healing—often with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Personal Mastery Is The Presence Of Calm, Compassion, & Power
— The presence of calm, compassion, and power is an indication of personal mastery. They don't fear expressing what they need to say, they lift others up, and they stay centered despite the chaos around them. It's no secret that these people are unstoppable, that their lives work, and that they achieve their goals. They are the ones people look up to. The ones who seem to be able to reach beyond the sky and touch the stars and have deep and loving relationships. True masters are those who have mastered themselves. Their negative thoughts, judgments, and endless loops of resentment and petty upsets have been banished. Who no longer need to be right or to fight for status or to have their way. Those who don't live their lives limited by fears, judgments, or the thousands of life-numbing concerns most of us share. It's time to go to work on building your own path, being your own person, leading others; and transforming your family, community, and workplace. Valeria interviews Russell Heath — He is a graduate of Accomplishment Coaching, one of the nation's premier coaching schools, and he is a Master Certified Coach. Russell coaches for personal mastery; that is, to develop in individuals the leadership, emotional intelligence, and resilience to drive their lives forward—with deftness and humor—regardless of the circumstances. In his teens, Russell Heath hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on the banks of the Tanana River; in his twenties, he lived in Italy and then traveled overland across the Sahara, through the jungles and over the savannas of Africa, and into southern Asia; in his thirties, he sailed alone around the world in a 25-foot wooden boat; in his forties, he wrote novels; and in his fifties, he bicycled the spine of the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico. In his sixties now, he is building a boat which he will row around Newfoundland in 2024. He's worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the Alaska Legislature, and ran a storied environmental organization fighting to protect Alaska's coastal rainforests. In 2010, he left Alaska and moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and coaching. A Daily Movement Routine That Is Different Every Day!
— There is a daily routine created by Michael Landau that is different every day. A habit of moving with awareness is what he wants to learn. The attitude is more important than the action. This involves slowing down, observing closely, and stopping the rat race. By reducing effort, increasing efficiency and not hurting yourself, you are giving yourself the opportunity to improve. We rarely take the time to do those things. Our bodies are not well-cared for by most of us. Our bodies constantly send us tiny feedback messages, which we usually ignore. The nervous system seems to need a reminder of how to listen to itself. When we were young, we all mastered this art. Lifting our heads, rolling over, crawling, and walking all came from this experience. Playing, listening, and trying many options and variations, we were attentive and curious. Learning organically takes place in this way. As adults, we seem to have lost sight of this fine and subtle art in our busy lives. It is difficult for us to reexamine our habitual patterns and take a break from them. Unlike so many of us, Michael has learned to balance the need to explore, to play, to slow down and try new things with the lack of time and peace of mind he suffers from. Creating a habit is the key to success here. His research showed that short breaks - a couple of minutes - during which you get up, stand up, make some deliberate slow movements, and then sit back down at the computer are actually quite effective. As long as you do it every day: three minutes. A tiny habit can have a huge impact. To make it manageable, you make it tiny. To make it effective, you must make it constant — and big changes begin to happen! Valeria interviews Michael Landau — He has been a Feldenkrais practitioner since 1994. This means that he teaches Mindful Movement, and uses the minute exploration of movement to create well-being and growth. He teaches people to take better care of themselves by developing finer and more precise awareness of themselves as they move through life. As the pandemic forced him to move all his teaching activities online, he developed a daily online practice of movement with awareness that is only three minutes long. It started as an experimental venture into the unknown, and it became a stunning success. Benefits build up and accumulate over time if you give yourself those three minutes each day. Creating the daily habit of stepping out of the hamster wheel, slowing down and looking at yourself with gentleness and care has proven to be highly transformative. Michael was a professional musician and university professor for 30 years. He has navigated through a long path of Buddhistic practice, shamanic studies, and all sorts of personal growth and healing processes. All these experiences inform his teachings and turn them into a holistic approach of self care, wellness and growth. The Journeys We Make Through Grief & Illness To Get Back To Life
— Trauma, of any kind, can create bizarre worlds. Worlds that become even stranger when the mind that creates them is ill. It can be hard to find a way through, back to a place where people can reach in and find you. Kathryn's book , The Things We Left Sleeping, is her attempt to explain that journey. Valeria interviews Kathryn Lund — She is the author of "The Things We Left Sleeping." Kathryn Lund lives in York in the north of England. Her work is often an exploration of a world experienced through a neurodivergent brain. Her novel, The Things We Left Sleeping, was a Shelf Unbound Indie Top 100 for 2022. She has a book of short stories, The Things We Keep In The Cupboard, which she wrote for her MA in Creative Writing. She was awarded the Blackwell Prize in Creative Writing for her postgraduate work. Kathryn uses her writing to platform speaking about mental health, chronic illness and living with invisible disability. She is renovating a house which, when it stops looking like a building site, her girlfriend is promised to move in to.
