3637 Uncover What Is Hidden
Many times, we go through our days loading the trucks, relying on habits that come easy, and wishing for something better. Deep down, married life isn't all roses and rainbows. If only we could uncover what is hidden. And what is hidden? Those feelings you never share: loneliness, failure, defeat, despair, frustration, anger, shame...all the ones that you think will disappear in a few days. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co "Surely, it will get better," you repeat to yourself. So, what does your reality look like? In fact, let me ask you a more challenging question. What does your night feel like? The darker the night, there's a flood of emotions and feelings. It's almost as if the night brings out the monster feelings we attempt to ignore during the day. With a restless sleep and a weary heart, it's so tough to make it. But somehow you do, and then the sun rises. You rinse and repeat because that's what you know. But married life is not intended to be something you hate and despise. It does require work connecting two hearts. And that doesn't come easy. However, it can be accomplished. You just have to be willing to uncover what is hidden. The K.I.S.S. ~ Uncover what is hidden! And for the most part, what is hidden is you! Maybe you think it's better to stay quiet and reserved with your words instead of speaking up and letting your voice be heard. I want you to keep in mind that marriage is a two-way street. It takes two to have a marriage where you grow together, encourage each other, and live life well. If anyone tells you differently, they are telling a fib! But you don't have to settle for where you are right now. If you want a marriage in which two people can do life together well, it can be you!! Yet, it comes with a cost. You must uncover what is hidden. Acknowledge Your Hurt - This can be a particular situation that was a one and done. Or it might be a pattern of actions that repeat themselves quite frequently with your spouse. What matters is that if it is bothering you and thoughts pop up regularly, there is something there. Express Yourself with Care - If you choose to hold onto hurts, they will not only destroy your marriage but also you! So, share your thoughts and feelings with your spouse. If it is something that you believe will set your spouse off in the a negative direction, be sure you share with someone you feel safe with. You don't have to do it alone. *And if you are in physical danger, please seek help! Forgive to move forward - You can do all the stuff, but if you are not willing to forgive your spouse, then it will lead to bitterness for you! And bitterness truly sucks the life out of you. If you think you have it bad now, when you hit the rock bottom of bitterness, it can be so emotionally and psychologically destructive. It tears you up from the inside out! But you can overcome knowing that both of you are coming together and willing to work together. If you can get professional help, I would highly encourage it. And gentlemen, if you are listening, be a man and go too! If you want this to work, remember it takes two! I want you to think about this episode as a way to change what you don't want so you can have what you dreamed of for your marriage. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #RelationshipBuilders #CreateYourNow #LoveAndMarriage 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3636 How to Say No Without Guilt
Guilt is a real thing for parents. We want to give our kids what we didn't have, but at what cost and to what extremes? At some point, you must embrace how to say no without guilt. Because can you really reason with a child, no matter their age? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Absolutely not!! Yet, because we want to be that endearing parent who gives our kids what we didn't have, we try to approach situations and circumstances with a reasonable twist. But they can't reason! Their brains have not fully developed. And, of course, you have to consider the situation and the appropriate actions. Life is ridiculous for parents, and it doesn't get easier the older they get. What I can tell you that works best is that you are the parent, so be the parent! The K.I.S.S. ~ Be the parent! That means you have to be the adult in the situation. You have to look at how you need to respond based on the severity, or lack thereof, and determine your next steps, especially when it comes to discipline. There are consequences in life, good or bad. Raising your kids to understand that they can get away with whatever, and there are no consequences, only sets them up for future failures and greater falls. You were given your children to raise them up to be productive human beings, not to be their best friend. Plus, you're not grandma and grandpa. They've earned the right to spoil; you have the right to discipline! So, be the parent! 1. Examine the situation for what it is. There is nothing worse than overreacting! Instead of being overly dramatic or monstrous in your reaction, take a deep breath and see the situation. Don't read into the what-ifs. Gather the facts and know the potential fallout. So long as everyone is safe, that is what counts first. Then, take the next step. 2. Choose your words wisely. When we are pushed to the limits and stressed without preparation, it's easy to jump into survival mode. Yet, being a parent requires regulated and calculated conversations. If it can wait until morning (assuming the incident happens at night), then maybe that would be better for all involved. However, if the situation calls for a "911" response by you, then think before you open your mouth. Otherwise, it might end up being a foot-in-the-mouth moment. Not good. So, choose your words wisely. 3. Know the lesson they need to learn. If you can approach the circumstance with the knowledge of what they need to get out of the mess, that will bring a sense of balance to a stressful situation. And then, you can prepare how you want to lead them into making a wiser decision, so they don't make the same mistake again. Certainly, you have to survey the situation. But also, don't be afraid to be firm. Life is precious and so are your children. Teaching them the way to go is one of the greatest responsibilities that we have as parents. Yes, we want to give our kiddos what we didn't have, but don't let them make the same mistakes you did. As parents, we get to break the generational mishaps and make life more meaningful. Who wants to continue stuff that isn't good? Our parents did their best, and as time goes on, we can also do better. Giving that incredible gift to your child allows you to say no without guilt. 3635 Direction Comes From Action
As the week drags on, keeping what needs to be done in front of you is hard. The challenges are real. But don't despair when you get to choose, if it's really unfair. Direction comes from action. And it doesn't have to be perfect action. If you are struggling with your health, what one thing can you focus on this week. By changing one thing a week, by the end of the year, you will have changed 52 things. That's IMPACT! Direction comes from action. So— don't wait until you have everything right where you need it. Don't wait until you can slow down; that's false hope. Don't beat yourself up over silly mistakes. Do better next time. Life is all about learning, growing, and stretching. If you are a willing participant in what God has in store for you every day, that's where the magic will happen. And please understand that it's not an overnight success story, or that all struggles and troubles will disappear. There will be hurdles and heartaches, but there will also be blessings. 3634 Do Fitness Gadgets Tell the Truth?
Living a healthy lifestyle has its own set of rules: diligence, consistency, and intentional actions. Honesty is the name of the game, and it includes all the stuff you need to reach your goals. So the question is: Do fitness gadgets tell the truth? Now, I'm sure you're thinking, how can they not? They are digital products running on an operating system that tracks health and fitness. There's no way where they can't work. What can be wrong? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co In reality, fitness gadgets are only as honest as you are truthful with yourself. And that means your work happens first before they work. Imagine the Body Pod by Hume Health, the Oura Ring Gen 4, Fitbit or Apple watch, CGMs (continuous glucose monitors), workout apps, food trackers, fitness equipment, and everything in between. There is so much to choose from, but are the serving you well, or should you even invest in them? Some of the things to consider when using fitness gadgets: 1. Inaccurate Data: Fitness gadgets may not always provide entirely accurate data, leading to misinterpretation of your health and fitness progress. Depending solely on this data can result in false assumptions about your activity levels, calorie burn, and overall well-being. 2. Overreliance on Technology: Relying too heavily on fitness gadgets can potentially detach individuals from intuitive listening to their bodies. Ignoring internal cues and prioritizing external data can lead to unhealthy habits or exercise behaviors that are not sustainable in the long run. 3. False Sense of Achievement: Constantly chasing after step counts or calorie goals set by fitness gadgets can create a false sense of achievement. This mindset may overlook other essential aspects of healthy living, such as proper nutrition, rest, and mental well-being, leading to an imbalanced approach to overall health. 4. Dependency on Motivation: While fitness gadgets can provide motivation and accountability, solely relying on them for motivation can be risky. If the gadget malfunctions or if the novelty wears off, you may struggle to stay consistent with your healthy living habits without external prompts. 5. Privacy and Security Concerns: Fitness gadgets collect a vast amount of personal data, including activity levels, sleep patterns, and sometimes even location information. Relying on these gadgets means entrusting sensitive information to technology that might not always guarantee the highest level of privacy and security, posing potential risks to personal data protection. There's a ton of stuff with all the stuff. If you want to use the latest and greatest fitness gadgets, you need to separate fact from fiction. The K.I.S.S. ~ Separate fact from fiction! You cannot believe everything you read, or you will not succeed. Your health takes personal ownership. Only you can do the work to ensure that what you're doing actually benefits you health-wise. So what does it look like in real life? 1. Be Realistic with Expectations If you are solely dependent on fitness gadgets, set your goals accordingly. Keep in mind that the gadgets are constructed for the average person. And if you're not average, it won't work as well for you. 2. Know what you need Use your resources when it comes to your health. Talk to your medical provider, personal trainer, spouse, or coach. Get "live" interaction with what you're doing and the reason for doing so. Also, be sure to read the reviews if you are purchasing something. Research goes a long way. 3. Use what you purchase All the bells and whistles will not melt your problems away. You have to put in the work and use what you purchase to assist in the goals you set for yourself. Remember, you are the boss, not the fitness gadget. Personally, I do believe fitness gadgets are fabulous, but your mindset will get you farther than any latest fitness gadget. Be wise where you spend your money. Your mind and body don't see the money; they only respond to your actions. Time to take A.I.M.! "Be present. Be incredible. 3633 Break Out of Autopilot
There are not many things that we do over and over again that benefit us. Habits can do you good as well as they can do you bad. Regardless of the season you're in, be intentional with your actions and words. Break out of autopilot. Autopilot is super dangerous! You can think you've got it all under control, only to learn midway that where you are is not where you were going. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Think about your GPS system. I was playing with my grandson the other day, and he was riding his scooter. At one point, I asked him where he was going. He said he didn't know. So, I might have mentioned the idea of a map and his GPS. Then, it was a deep dive into the city and the train depot we were headed to. And, of course, every single time he got on his scooter, he told all about his GPS. Do you wake up with that clarity of where you're going? Most of us just get up and do the same thing without even thinking twice about it. This might be a little TMI-- but when you go to the bathroom, do you do everything the same way? I would bet you do. With our daily survival habits, like going to the bathroom, brushing our teeth, even eating and how we chew our food, there's not that big of a deal. Yet, if you keep doing just to do, how will you change your destination? And if you don't change your destination, your journey won't change either. The K.I.S.S. ~ Break out of autopilot! You have a mind that wants to find treasures every day. Don't let that go astray. Wake up energized to see the possibilities and consume the opportunities. Go for it!! You are created for more. Create your now! Don't settle for unintentional actions. Storm your day with actions that rock the world you touch. Be kind with a smile that ignites the heart. What if you were an EV, electrical vehicle? Imagine the current flowing through your body that drives your actions and words with purpose stimulating the passion deep in your heart where it's all you can do but to be present. You are so alive! Create your now! Break out of autopilot and soar on wings like eagles! See the world with a different eye. Act with purposeful intention. May your dreams ignite your reality, showing you the possibilities over all the chaos. You need a new pilot. So, who's driving this time? God's got you! "Be present. Be incredible. 3632 Master Your Attitude with Your Mind
Making changes requires us to perform different actions and think in a new way. In doing so, you get closer to your goals. Otherwise, you will fight yourself for what isn't possible. Therefore, master your attitude with your mind. Some of the hardest things you and I must do in life is fight our own battles in the head. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Self-talk is a real thing. And let me just say, it has nothing to do with how crazy you are. What you think about yourself, you will live out. My good friend, Marianne Renner, has a brand new book coming out in May 2025 called "Self-Talk: 10 Stories You Tell Yourself that Hold You Back." It's the real deal in life when we get in our own way. If we're up in our heads proclaiming that something is not going to work, you're not good enough, or some other hateful thought, if you keep repeating it, you keep believing it. And how unfair to you and your dreams! You matter. Your dreams matter. Your purpose matters. But if you are not willing to do what it takes to make the change, you are going to stay right where you are. So, today, I will assume that you want something different in life. And in order to live that out, you have to master your attitude with your mind. The K.I.S.S. ~ Master your attitude with your mind! Imagine a life where you can navigate challenges with grace, overcome obstacles with resilience, and approach each day with positivity. Now, it's not all about affirmations and declarations. This is not about foo-foo and woo-woo. This is the real deal to make a difference in your life so you can impact the world that you touch. And it all begins with mastering your attitude through the incredible power of your mind. As we know, research has shown that our attitudes and beliefs can rewire our brains. When we choose to adopt a positive attitude, our brain releases neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, promoting feelings of happiness and well-being. This neurological process reinforces the importance of cultivating a positive mindset. However, it doesn't stop there. You still have to do the work with the thoughts that are in your mind. They don't magically disappear. If only we could wave a magic wand. LOL 😂 How you speak to yourself internally plays a crucial role in shaping your attitudes. By practicing positive self-talk and affirmations, you can reprogram your mind to focus on solutions rather than problems. As Louise Hay famously said, "You have the power to heal your life, and you need to remember this power lies within you." 1. Embrace a Growth Mindset: Psychologist Carol Dweck's research on the growth mindset highlights the importance of viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. By embracing a growth mindset, we can shift our attitudes from fear of failure to embracing learning and development. Think of the type of mindset in the direction you want to go. You can stay "fixed" or you can transition to a "growth" mindset. Do you want to stay where you are or move forward? 2. Practice Gratitude: Cultivating an attitude of gratitude has been linked to improved mental health and overall well-being. By expressing gratitude for the present moment and the blessings in your life, you can shift your focus from scarcity to abundance. Gratitude stretches your attitude, for it's genuinely a fortitude. Your presence matters. Stay in the moment and see the possibilities, not the problems. 3. Set Intentions: When you set clear intentions, it aligns your thoughts and actions toward your goals. Dream a little bigger and then put some extra thoughts behind the dream. Visiualize what can be done in the season you are in. As you give yourself permission to see what's possible, you can set your next steps into action with intention. "One step at a time leads to miles of greatness." ~ Kristianne Wargo You can shape your reality and experience a life filled with purpose and passion because of your presence. Create your now! Now, you might say that you disagree because you don't have the answers you want. Yet, God is still there even when you don't get what you want. Sounds all too familiar when raising kids, right? We tell them no they can't do something or have something, and they whine, walk away mad, wishing they had a different parent. We can kind of be like that with God. But I want to encourage you today: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." ~ Psalm 46:1 The K.I.S.S. ~ God is your refuge! By now, you've probably heard about my diagnosis of double pneumonia after the first of the new year. It was not good, mainly because I had no energy. And for a woman who is always on the go, that was a kick in the pants. I get tired or exhausted because of what I do, but not because of an illness. So unfair. Yet that was just the beginning. In February, we had a cold spell that took our temperatures down to 10 degrees with a wind chill at times below zero. If you're in the south, that is not the temperature you want. Plus, stuff happens when it freezes. Well, you know all about the forced renovations inside. But I get a call while at a conference that we are having troubles with the pool. Bubbles are happening outside. I am a day from arriving home, and all I can do is watch a video and see what's going on. I call my pool man, and he says, "You've got a leak!" Can I just say I have PTSD from water?!? We had the crew come out and emergently winterize our pool to protect any of the working lines. There was no guarantee what was wrong, but something was WRONG!! After arriving home, we had to keep the ice from getting too thick to keep the water lines open and free from a freeze. That required us to stick the ice on the top of the pool and keep it more in chunks rather than an ice skating rink. One day, I was working on the ice and the pool, and a struck the ice with a brief pause.... And then all of sudden I had an eighth of a milli-second to decide whether or not I was going with the fall, or would fight the fall in mid-air. YES!!! I fell into the pool with ice about 2 inches thick. God is our refuge!! The short story is I'm alive to talk about it. The long story that early afternoon was I came close to not making it. God is our refuge!! In the moments of the water and ice hitting my body, and me being pulled under the ice was a little anerving. In a brief moment, I knew I had to get out of the pool or my son would walk down the stairs and find his mom floating dead in the pool. All I could do was constantly tell myself to get above the water, keep your head above the water. As I climbed the iceburgs of Alaska in the backyard of my Tennessee swimming pool, I prayed to God to get me out. With fingernails clawing the slabs of ice, my heavy sweater wrapped around my face strangling my neck as it caught the edges of the ice. The fight was real, but God was by refuge. Somehow, I was able to pull myself over two huge slabs of ice that were about as tall as me (5 feet). Finally, I got to the shallow sunning ledge and caught my breath. Making sure I wasn't dizzy and going to pass out, I continued the climb. The climb of life is real, and so is God!! "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." ~ Psalm 46:1 "Be present. Be incredible. 3630 How to Love in a One-Sided Marriage
In marriage, there are sweet moments of honeymoons, celebrations, and birthdays. As two become one over the years, many things shift, including who loves more or less. How to love in a one-sided marriage. Let's be real. Neither of you loves the same way. Neither of you show up committed in the same way. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co However, you both love each other uniquely, and at times, it can feel like you are doing everything. Then the questions begin: Why can't he love me more? Why can't he see what he's doing wrong? Why do I have to do everything in this relationship? These questions are just a sprinkle of all the doubt you thought of years ago before walking down the aisle, but now seems a little too close to reality. Let me remind you that there are seasons in marriage. You will have the roller coasters that you conquer together, but then there will be those lines only for one person. Why does it have to be this way? Relationships ebb and flow. When you bring two people together who want to do life together, it takes work, like swimming upstream in a downstream world. Unfair? Yes. Leads to divorce? Only if you allow it. Marriage is work, and love takes action. You have to be willing to go above and beyond. The K.I.S.S. ~ Go above and beyond! And let me say this: Just because you put in all the work doesn't make you better than your spouse. Yes, it requires more effort and energy, but please don't discount what your spouse is doing. Usually, they are executing only what they know or have been shown. I can definitely remember times in our marriage when I felt I was married only to myself. I'm not saying that was good, yet it was reality. If you can look at things with clarity, then you can deal with the season you are in better and get out on the other side closer. So what does it look like in the real world of marriage? 1. Know the Season so You Show Up with Reason. Just as Fall moves into Winter, you can prep your plants, trees, and grass for the cold that moving in. It's part of the growth cycle. Marriage is the same way. There will be times when it's going to take all of you. And if you're willing, then it becomes easier actually to live out with that clarity of knowing your position in getting through the season. You won't be there long, just hold on. 2. Give Grace in the Midst of Chaos Nothing is every going to be perfect. So, if you are going to go above and beyond, you've got to give grace. There's no other way around it. Otherwise, you will be the one hurt the most because your emotions that harbor the feelings of "why can't he do more," will turn into resentment and bitterness in your heart. And that's a whole other mountain to climb. Give grace. 3. Express What You Need at the Right Time. Timing is everything! In the digital space, a phrase is thrown around: "Content is king." In marriage, timing is king. If you have concerns about money, it probably is not a good idea to talk about it right before bed. Do it when you both are well-rested. If you feel like you're holding down the fort with no help, that's a fair concern. But don't bring it up in a discussion involving who's picking up the kids when. It's not the right time! And just because we have technology at our fingertips does not mean you can say anything anytime. Remember, timing is everything. "Marriage is work, and love takes action." ~ Kristianne Wargo Don't let the excuses of your personal wants get in the way of creating the best relationship between two people. The one-sided marriage will not last forever. Be patient. Express your concerns. And be willing to go above and beyond. You can have a beautiful marriage and love deeper every day. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #RelationshipBuilders #CreateYourNow #LoveAndMarriage 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? 3629 Stretch Them So You Don't Shrink Them
Raising kids can be the pits sometimes. You want to do everything for them, but they still don't get it. Why can't they do what we teach? Remember, as a parent, you are called to stretch them so you don't shrink them. How has your week gone with the kids? Or maybe you're without them, but you are never not a parent. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Once a parent, always a parent. So, how do you communicate with your children? Do you get mad because that's the only way to get their attention? Or do you speak in whispers to draw them in closer? Parenting is super confusing. At one point, you think you have it all figured out. Yet, less than hours later, you are putting out a fire that you just told them not to do. Motherhood is a sham! Just kidding--LOL! Seriously, though, it is a TON of work that does not come with a manual. If there is one thing that I've learned from raising five kiddos is to stretch them so you don't shrink them. The K.I.S.S. ~ Stretch them, not to shrink them! The strength of children is found in the ceiling. First you want a firm foundation, but the ceiling is what determines how far they will go. This means that wherever you hold the expectation, they will either rise to it or shrink back because it's too easy. My Dad always dreamed BIG!! Nothing was too BIG for my dad. And that's probably why I had dreams of going to the Olympics, becoming Miss America, and being an OB/GYN physician. Oh, how small were my dreams. But let me tell you, I may not have achieved any of them for a variety of reasons (which really doesn't matter), the thought of going after them was well worth the dreams because of all the lessons learned had I not tried at all. How are you teaching your children? Do you make it easy for them to achieve, or do you raise the bar for them to attempt and maybe even succeed? If you want to be that parent who leads with love to serve them well, you want to stretch them, not to shrink them. Raise the Bar: Your child is created for more, regardless of whether you can see it or not. When you give a gentle stretch to keep them reaching, you assist them in learning new life skills and training their mindset that nothing is impossible. Lower Your Goals: Your children are not living your life. So don't make what they are doing all about you! Instead, open their eyes to see what's possible and help them dream bigger. Dream the Impossible: With today's technology, dreaming has become less prevalent in our society. Have you heard of ChatGPT? Well, if it's the only thing that's dreaming, our children are in trouble. So, rip what holds your child back. Encourage them to dream the impossible. Our minds have not changed, but our attitudes have. Don't let the sun go down on your children. Stretch them to the moon and back and see how they impact the world they touch. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!" #ConfessionsOfAnUpsetMama #CreateYourNow #TodaysParent 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women?
