7 Most Unbelievable Heists in World History

From ingenious bank robberies, and that time a couple of malicious thieves fastened a collar bomb around a pizza delivery guy’s neck, to the elaborate mafia-backed Lufthansa Heist, these are 7 of the most unbelievable heists in world history. And as notorious as some of these heists are, it’s likely you’ve never heard of the people who carried them out — and some were so brilliantly conceived that we may never find the true culprits. Shit Out of Luck: The Capture of Robert Hansen "The Butcher Baker"

Robert Hansen, who earned the nickname "The Butcher Baker," could have been caught for good a decade before he was, saving at least 10 lives. The police and courts repeatedly neglected to take the threat seriously. Putting forward the façade of a kindly, upstanding baker, it was all too easy to look the other way on the accusations against him, even as the bodies of women kept being found in the Alaskan wilderness. According to New York Daily News, his assaults and murders occurred about every six months, beginning in the early 1970s. He was not caught until 1983 and only then because of a brave girl grabbing the attention of a detective ready to find an answer. The Assassination of Alexander Litvinenko

This week we are diving into the assassination of Russian Alexander Litvinenko. One of President Putin's biggest critics and threats. Alexander Litvinenko was a former officer of the Russian Federal Security service who escaped prosecution in Russia and received political asylum in the United Kingdom. In his books, Blowing up Russia: Terror from Within and Lubyanka Criminal Group, Litvinenko described Russian president Vladimir Putin's rise to power as a coup d'état organized by the FSB.    He alleged that a key element of the FSB's strategy was to frighten Russians by bombing apartment buildings in Moscow and other Russian cities. He accused Russian secret services of having arranged the Moscow theater hostage crisis, through their Chechen agent provocateur, and having organised the 1999 Armenian parliament shooting. He also claimed that the terrorist Ayman al-Zawahiri was under FSB control when he visited Russia in 1997. Upon his arrival in London, he continued to support the Russian oligarch in exile, Boris Berezovsky, in his media campaign against the Russian government. Just two weeks before his death, Litvinenko accused Putin of ordering the assassination of Anna Politkovskaya. The Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr

This week we dive into the shocking and sad assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. King was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the American civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. King advanced civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. He was the son of early civil rights activist and minister Martin Luther King Sr. In 1968, King was planning a national occupation of Washington, D.C., to be called the Poor People's Campaign, when he was assassinated on April 4 in Memphis, Tennessee. His death was followed by riots in many U.S. cities. Allegations that James Earl Ray, the man convicted of killing King, had been framed or acted in concert with government agents persisted for decades after the shooting. Shit Out of Luck: The Capture of Ramzi Yousef

This week's edition of Shit Out of Luck is about the crimes and eventual capture of Ramzi Yousef, best known for bombing the World Trade Center.   The North Tower was still standing, over one thousand people were injured and only six were killed in the blast which suffered the tower from the garage thru five floors to B-6 Level. Looking at the downtown skyline as the cold, cloudy date of February 26th grew darker, Abdul Basit Mahmoud Abdul Karim otherwise known as Ramzi Yousef, viewed and became disappointed.    His wish was for the North Tower to lose its grip at the base and topple the North Tower into the South Tower collapsing together onto the cold Lower Manhattan skyline, killing tens of thousands. Yousef would later admit he didn’t have the necessary funding to build the urea-nitrate bomb bigger. The Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy

This week we dive into the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy on the True Crime Never Sleeps podcast.    On June 5, 1968, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was mortally wounded shortly after midnight at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Earlier that evening, the 42-year-old junior senator from New York was declared the winner in the South Dakota and California 1968 Democratic Party presidential primaries during the 1968 United States presidential election.  He was pronounced dead at 1:44 a.m. PDT on June 6, about 26 hours after he had been shot. Following dual victories in the California and South Dakota primary elections for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, Senator Kennedy spoke to journalists and campaign workers at a live televised celebration from the stage of his headquarters at the Ambassador Hotel. Shortly after leaving the podium and exiting through a kitchen hallway, he was mortally wounded by multiple shots fired from a handgun.    Kennedy died in the Good Samaritan Hospital 26 hours later. The shooter was 24-year-old Sirhan Sirhan. In 1969, Sirhan was convicted of murdering the senator and sentenced to death. His sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1972. A freelance newspaper reporter recorded the shooting on audiotape, and the aftermath was captured on film. Murder Monday: The Miracle Mile Murder of a Korean Family

Thanks for tuning into an all new Murder Monday episode of the True Crime Never Sleeps Podcast. Today we dive into the Miracle Mile Murder of a Korean Family.  Miracle Mile, California is close to one of those enclaves for Korean Americans, and it was the site of the murder of two women and a two-year-old boy in 2003. Their names were Eun Sik Min, a 56-year-old woman, Charis Song, a 30-year-old mother, and Nathan Song, a two-year-old toddler. According to Suzie Suh at CBS Los Angeles, the May 5, 2003 murders shocked the whole Miracle Mile area. It was a brutal crime scene that seemed to lack a motive. Song especially was killed brutally. Her hands were bound and her mouth was gagged with duct tape, and she was found slumped along the bathroom floor. Cold Case Files: Oakland County Killer

Between 1976 and 1977, the quiet suburbs of Oakland County, Michigan, became the stalking ground for a predator who would become known as the Oakland County Child Killer. There were four gruesome murders of children, with each body posed in the snow. The community was terrorized, and the families of each of the four victims were haunted by the last day they saw their precious children alive. To this day, Oakland County authorities remain baffled and the killer remains at large. Over the years, police have wondered: was the killer a local pedophile, a local businessman? A drifter? A member of the clergy or a police officer?
