Cold Case Files: The Somerton Man
The Somerton Man case is unsolved, and there is compelling evidence to suggest that someone wants it to remain that way for reasons that are not clear. The case involves not only an unknown poison, a book of Farsi poetry, and an unidentifiable corpse but also ballet and an even professor fixated on the number of teeth a person has. Internet sleuths also tie in a baby's death, perhaps killed to shut up his parents, and the brother of a politician who died in a hauntingly similar manner. Eerily, some names and details echo in unrelated cases.
Tune into today's episode and hear as we chase down all the clues and tie all the strange "coincidences" together and attempt to figure out who the Somerton Man really is.

Lets Talk: People Executed for Murder Who Definitely Didn't Do It
This week we are talking about those innocent in prison who ended up getting executed. Supreme court justice Antonin Scalia once infamously implied that innocent people are never executed in the United States. "If such an event had occurred in recent years," he wrote, "we would not have to hunt for it; the innocent's name would be shouted from the rooftops by the abolition lobby." That would be an adorable example how one can have way too much faith in a flawed system of justice if so many lives weren't at stake.

Boston Bombing Part 1: The Hunt
The Boston Marathon bombing was a domestic terrorist attack that took place during the annual Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. Two terrorists and brothers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, planted two homemade pressure cooker bombs, which detonated 14 seconds and 210 yards (190 m) apart at 2:49 p.m., near the finish line of the race, killing 3 people and injuring hundreds of others, including 17 who lost limbs. This is the first part of a two part episode on the Boston Bombing.

Murder Monday: Gertrude Baniszewski: The Caregiver From Hell
We bring you a new episode of Murder Monday and this week we take a closer look at Gertrude Banizzewski and the murder of Sylvia Likens. The abuse continued throughout the hot summer. However, the abuse seemed to be exclusively on Sylvia. Many believe that this was due to jealousy by Gertrude because of Sylvia’s good looks and potential in life. Many times Sylvia was denied access to the bathroom and was forced to eat garbage out of the trash can among other heinous things.
Gertrude even had her very own children get in on the abuse. On one specific occasion, Sylvia was stripped of her clothing and thrown into the basement of the home where she was barely fed and beaten by Gertrude and her children.

True Crime: From Guilty Pleasure to High Culture
Today on another episode of the True Crime Never Sleeps podcast, we take a look at the ever-popular true crime genre. If you’re like me, there’s nothing better than settling into the couch after a long day’s work and flipping on the television to Investigation Discovery. Investigation Discovery, or ID, is a cable television network owned by Discovery Communications that features almost exclusively true-crime documentaries. (Mainly murders, with a sprinkling of kidnappings, stalkings, and the ever-favorite “unexplained disappearance.”) It is the televisual Mecca for fans of hardboiled, albeit rather low-rent, crime stories. It’s kitschy and riveting—the ultimate guilty pleasure.

Shit Out of Luck: The Capture of Andrei Chikatilo
Andrei Chikatilo was a Soviet serial killer, nicknamed the Butcher of Rostov, the Red Ripper, and the Rostov Ripper, who sexually assaulted, murdered, and mutilated at least fifty-two women and children between 1978 and 1990 in the Russian SFSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and the Uzbek SSR. Chikatilo confessed to fifty-six murders and was tried for fifty-three of them in April 1992. He was convicted and sentenced to death for fifty-two murders in October 1992, although the Supreme Court of Russia ruled in 1993 that insufficient evidence existed to prove his guilt in nine of those killings. Chikatilo was executed in February 1994.
