We welcome to the show Matthew Harris, a US Air Force Security Forces Member (Military Police) and friend of both Brandon & Zach. Like so many other military members across the DoD, Matt had questions and concerns when, a few years ago, the DoD demanded its members receive the jab or face separation from service.For many service members, the decision to get it was simple and many did as they were asked. Yet, for a small number, the demand did not make sense. It seemed more politically charged than what was medically best. More importantly, it went against their morals and values. During the period of time where Matt was standing up for his beliefs and trying to navigate through his decision to refuse, he was consistently cut down, told he was a bad person and poor leader, told he was harming the mission, and all in all was "othered" as so often happens when people go against the flow. We thank Matt so much for joining us, sharing the journey he was on, why he refused, what it was like dealing with condescending unit leadership during this time, why he believes in what he did, and what got him through it. We certainly believe in Matt and are proud to call him a friend and a brother, not just in arms, but as family.
