This month, we heard from various speakers including Craig Detweiler, as well as Redemption's own Melissa Blakey, and Jordan Benesh. Craig Detweiler received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema/TV. Later he received a Masters of Divinity and PhD in theology and culture at Fuller Theological Seminary. While at Fuller, he co-founded the Windrider Forum, a "vehicle to promote the presentation and exploration of the human story through film and visual media". Many of us have friends who are wrestling with God. Some of them are going through a “dark night of the soul.” Others are deconstructing their beliefs, and possibly walking away from the faith. We’re often asking, “How can I best walk with them and talk with them about their experience?” In this episode, Josh Butler has a conversation like this with one of his best friends, Paul Ramey, who just released an album, "Shadows: A-Side," that chronicles his wrestling with God. Advent means “arrival.” It’s a season where we anticipate the arrival of Jesus, the Savior of the world, at Christmas. This Advent, we’re focusing on becoming a people of prayer and action, in response to the God who hears our prayers and takes action. The Advent season at Redemption Tempe has historically been one where we’ve pressed into the practice of generosity.  You can join this year in a couple of ways. We are collecting kitchen supplies for resettled refugee families in our city!   Place unwrapped kitchen supplies underneath the Christmas tree in the lobby. We will collect items until December 18th.
