It sounds right, even Biblical, to follow our hearts (since that’s where we tell kids that Jesus lives). But even the scriptures don’t agree on how trustworthy our hearts are. (Psalm 37:4, Jeremiah 17:9) Instead of following our hearts, we need to lead them by asking questions, feeding it the right things and guarding it. Do you have soul fragility? People who appear outwardly strong can be inwardly weak when it comes to criticism, other people’s opinions and rejection. If you want to learn to let things go, you have to stay focused on a higher, deeper purpose. Without thinking, we look away and divert our eyes from pain, suffering and things that make us uncomfortable. There are many stories of The Church unfortunately walking away from unfamiliar people, uncomfortable situations and uneasy solutions. But as followers of Jesus, we’re not called to divide and conquer with our own people. Christians need to lead the way in unity and creating a better world for our neighbors. When you live for yourself, your irresponsibility becomes someone else’s responsibility. When you live irresponsibly as a Christian, you live as a hypocrite. In 1 John 2:6, Jesus says that those who claim to follow him should live as he lives. It’s a challenging message, but still the one we are called to as Christians. Have you ever let time be the reason you aren’t doing something? Maybe you want to make a difference, achieve a goal or effect change but at the end of the day you’re too tired. If you’re running through life from meeting to meeting, appointment to appointment or task to task, you’re likely mentally, spiritually and emotionally exhausted. It is possible to do all the things you want to do, by stepping into divine moments - kairos moments that become stories worth telling. In Acts 10, Peter learned how his certain hindered divine opportunities that God was putting before him. He also realized that willingness is more important than ability or capacity.   If you’re feeling hopeless or helpless, hope is really not a conspiracy. God does want to be with you, and His presence is available to you right now. It’s fully actualized in the context of relationship, which is why you can have faith on your own but it you can only live out the love of Jesus with other people.   In this series, “Conspiracy of Hope,” Pastor Naeem taught that hope lives within you, hope is shameless and hope is a choice. In this last message on the book of Colossians, he explains that hope takes community.
