Show #75: Cate Burton on wax and candles - the good, the bad the ugly.

There's a candle burning everywhere these days but at what cost to us and to our planet? In chatting to Cate Burton about all things wax, candle manufacturing and the beauty of the bee, we break open the candle industry, exposing even ‘natural' candles for what they often truly are in this bumper hour long conversation - and trust me you'll want to listen until the end. Cate is riveting, well researched and absolutely passionate about candle making and I am super excited to share that passion with you in this week's show. If you've been buying candles, tune in, get informed and buy RIGHT - for people and planet. The show notes and our show supporter's offer can be found at www.lowtoxlife.com/podcast  as always. Hope you love this conversation as much as I loved having it, Alexx. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Show #74: The power of Hypnotherapy with Dr Karen Phillip

Dr Karen Phillip says “It's one thing to know what you want, but another to know how to get it, let me help you achieve your goals”. She is a Counselling Psychotherapist; Clinical Hypnotherapist and the Parenting and Relationship Expert and of course, Hypnotherapist. In our chat we dive into Hypnotherapy as a tool for breaking patterns, forming better habits, losing weight, reducing stress, anxiety or pain and much more - we even discuss hypnotherapy for pets!  It's a brilliant chat and you're now even able to do hypnotherapy from the comfort of your own home, virtually thanks to her new site. If you've been curious but wondered how it works, why it works, the science behind the way a session is put together, then this will be a good one for you - I really enjoyed chatting to Karen and learning a few nerdy things about hypnotherapy I did not know. Her sessions are great and we've done a couple in the office together - I told her if we were able to achieve a deep relaxed state with the leaf blower going in the back ground next door, then she is truly gifted!  For the show notes and our partner offer, you can head to www.lowtoxlife.com/podcast  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #73: Rob McGavin on Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Cobram Estate story

In this show I, your host Alexx Stuart, chat to Rob McGavin, who once a humble farmer with an idea do grow olives and produce oil, is now the largest supplier of Olive oil to Australia as well as an internationally award winning olive oil producer, supplying globally. We discuss fear around olive oil for cooking, quality and the ramifications of common practice of ‘mystery blends' on the market saying that they're olive oils, health benefits of good olive oil and he shares tales from the groves and growing the Cobram Estate business. He's an inspiring man, passionate about olive oil and thrilled that the much maligned olive oil when it comes to cooking, is taking back its rightful place as one of the best all rounders you can have in your kitchen. Enjoy his infectious enthusiasm as much as I have done in chatting to him for the show and visiting the Cobram Estate groves last year for an unforgettable trip.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #72: Brooklyn Fashion designer Carol Miltimore's ethical fashion brand journey

I came across Carol Miltimore's work when I was adding to our resources for the Go Low Tox e course's clothing day. She's a Brooklyn based designer who spends a fair part of the year in India - her second home. I thought it would be great to chat to Carol about her journey which wasn't always centred around ethics and sustainability, working for some big brands and mainstream fast fashion in her earlier training. She talks about the challenges, the true cost of fashion if you want it to be ethical and sustainable, and what drives her artistically and environmentally in her work. If you've been curious about moving towards more sustainable choices it's a great show to understand in great detail what goes on behind the scenes from the farming to the dyes, the environment to the manufacturing and then trying to actually cut a break out there and thrive in the very fast page, noisy fashion world of today while staying true to your design values. Enjoy the show and for the show notes and Goodness Me Box offer head to lowtoxlife.com/podcast for today's show notes.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Hosted on Acast. Show #71: Behind the scenes of regenerative Roebuck Farm with Jodi Roebuck

Previous guest Nick from Milkwood permaculture introduced me to Jodi's work suggesting he'd be great to have on the show. After checking out Roebuck farm and being instantly inspired by Jodi's work and passion for farm design and restorative farming education, then yes: Of course, I had to have him on the show. This show is wonderful for farmers wanting to explore doing things differently and not needing pesticide, as well as vegetarians or vegans who want to better understand that some of our friends who are omnivores and purchasing from these sorts of farms, aren't actually negatively impacting climate change, and omnivores are going to feel a deeper reasoning for choosing ethical, regenerative farmed options, eating less meat and trading up to the good stuff - good for people, animals and planet!Enjoy the show and connect with more details of Jodi's work and his favourite resources, as well as the sponsor offer over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast where you'll find today's show notes. Show #70: A Life Less Stressed with Dr Ron Ehrlich

My dentist is a legend. He happens to also be the author of his new book “A Life Less Stressed” and boy is it a cracking and important read. Discussing disease, inflammation, the nervous system, homeostasis, carbs, precautionary principle, allergy, pain, fats and proteins it's a comprehensive look at how we can use certain things to our advantage, how not all stress is ‘bad' and how to identify effectively what needs to fall away.Ron talks today with me about how this book came to be, gets deeply personal about his cancer journey, discusses the key principles of the book mentioned above and how to actually succeed at minimising stressors. We also tangent into mercury amalgam fillings and their removal - a question I get asked all the time and - well, frankly, not being an experienced dentist or a dentist at all for that matter - I felt it was the perfect opportunity to seize the day and ask Ron all about it.For the show notes, pop to lowtoxlife.com/podcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #68: Tidying up with Konmari method trained Sally Flower

Let me start by saying this is not an evil ploy to make you have a new year's resolution about tidying and decluttering more this year.No. I was inspired to start the year off with Sally because early January is often a time we have more time to focus inwards, at home, no rush of school or offices yet, no inbox full with demands… And many of us live in spaces we're not entirely happy with, whether it's how they look or feel in general, or whether it's an “I've got too much stuff” feeling.Sally Flower was the first Aussie to train with Marie Kondo herself in the USA, and she brings us her best strategies for falling in love with your home, by falling in love with a mindful tidy. It's a great show, super practical and I hope you enjoy it! I know I'm feeling more tidy already. For the show notes head to lowtoxlife.com/podcast.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Hosted on Acast. Show #67: Finding Slow with Brooke McAlary from Slow your Home

This week as you can see we have two shows! Reason being I've brought the Monday's show that would have aired Christmas day forward a few days - because, well it's going to help us with the days ahead and the week that heads us into a new year.  Brooke McAlary has authored two booked that help us navigate a world that feels more like one that ‘fits' us, by slowing down, simplifying, getting in touch with our values and ‘why'. In today's show we discuss:  The Stress Spiral - we discuss how we both navigate it, exit it before it negatively impacts us and feel stress without it necessarily being a negative.  How to create a simpler, slower year in 2018 and why.  How writing your eulogy can help you live the year and life you want.  Brooke's second book SLOW: Some highlights and insights from the book (and it's an excellent book indeed!) See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
