Show #83: VP of corporate responsibility at LEGO, Tim Brooks on their 2030 targets

I remember so well seeing the news break that lego were going to be aiming to be new-petroleum-free by 2030, engaging a huge task force of sustainability experts, scientists and industrial designers to work on this project. Today, some 2.5 years late, I chat to Tim Brooks, ex environmental advisor to the City of London, now with LEGO, on how their work is going towards this goal. We can all move mountains, and the big companies of LEGO's size can effect radical change when they move the needle on how the produce their products, so I hope you enjoy this look into what Lego is working to achieve. Show #82: Dr Elise Bialylew on mindfulness

If anyone knows about “this is what I think I want to do” but then climbs that mountain and goes “Oh dear, I think I've been called to do THAT” and has a major career shift, it's me. It was wonderful to meet Elise finally, after having done Mindful In May myself in the past, and discuss her journey from originally becoming a trained Doctor, surgeon and psychiatrist, but feeling to pull to make her principal life's work about teaching mindfulness both in workplaces and creating online spaces and events to motivate a happier and more mindful life. She's the best selling author of The Happiness Plan and founder of the largest online Mindfulness event in the world - Mindful In May. We talk scientific research behind why mindfulness isn't a woo woo left field thing to discount as not being important, we discuss raising mindful kids, managing and quietening anxiety, and so much more! I hope you enjoy the show and all the details for Mindful in May including our pop up Low Tox Life Facebook group we're going to have for the month of May for all of us doing it, are in the show notes lowtoxlife.com/podcast  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #81: Dr Elen Ap Thomas on precocious puberty

In this show I chat to Dr Elen Ap Thomas, an Integrative Doctor based in Queensland, Australia, about a topic that parents in the low tox community wanted to see on the show. We discuss some of the signs in girls and boys that early-onset puberty is occurring, when it's worth investigating, when and how it's possible to delay those early signs and some of the factors that science is starting to show, contribute to it happening in the first place, from our diets to our lifestyles. It's a show designed to educate, not alarm and ensure that our little peeps are supported as they grow, whether they go into puberty early or not. I hope you enjoy it and as usual, the show notes with further resources as well as this week's generous sponsor offer can be found at lowtoxlife.com/podcast  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #80: Dr Steven Lin and the Dental Diet (Note: Steven was found to be abusive to his ex-wife, breeched AVO + attacked two women and was shot by police, dead, in 2026. I advise against listening.

2026 NOTE: Steven Lin was shot dead by police the day he attacked two women in their apartments in a break-in, with a knife, in 2026. It had been 9 years since I'd last spoken with him for the podcast, and spoken at a Whole Foods family event he organised on the Central Coast in 2018. We communicated via email once 3-4 years ago when he aggressively insisted on doing another podcast on my show. I politely declined and unfollowed him on socials when I saw his misogynistic, narrow approach to health and politics emerge. Full report on his demise, the abuse he inflicted on the women in 2026 and the domestic violence he committed against his wife, including an AVO breech reported here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-03-04/dentist-shot-dead-by-police-potts-point-steven-lin-sydney/106415708We have hosted many great dental health shows with Dr Lewis Ehrlich, Dr Staci Whittman, and Dr Michelle Jorgensen over the years to support and educate on holistic dental health. For nearly a century, we've been told that fluoride is the key to not getting tooth decay, and while there's some research to suggest targeted topical benefit, the real reason for great healthy teeth is exactly what maintains a great healthy body: Largely? It's FOOD. Dr Steven Lin is fresh off his US tour promoting the book and shares an abundance of interesting facts about our teeth, gums, disease, and the myths that orthodontics and getting your wisdom teeth out are just part in parcel of life. Show #78: Dr Terry Wahls on MS, Autoimmune and the Wahls protocol

This week I have the pleasure of talking to Dr Terry Wahls about her journey towards her diagnosing of progressive MS, how she initially treated it, when she realised things needed to change and how she then went onto become one of the leading researchers on how diet and lifestyle can impact neurological diseases and other diseases. We discuss the holes in pharmaceutical based approach, autoimmune diseases and how the research is working to understand them better, and the aspects of quietening (not curing!) one's illness that can't be eaten from a plate - it's SO much more than food! The chat is so full of nuggets of wisdom for life whether you're affected by a chronic illness, supporting someone who is affected or simply wanting to lead your best life. Show #77: Alexx talks about moving from her water damaged building & starts her first low tox trial!

This week I'm sharing a bit about what I did in my journey to finally realising my building was water damaged and moving home, as well as some of the decisions we made around leaving things behind, replacing them and NOT replacing anything that wasn't essential. I share how I cleaned the lego, the clothes and the furniture that we were taking and what sorts of products I used. At the end of the show I launch my first month long trial… The Low Tox life is always about gently building awareness around an aspect of life and stepping up where we can once we KNOW. This trial speaks to my desire to keep things spacious and light at home after all the decluttering as well as saving money to recover from the massive expenditure of couch and beds and moving and I'll be asking myself this: Is it useful, beautiful or necessary? Show notes where you can share your comments or make the most of the sponsor offer and added show resources are at www.lowtoxlife.com/podcast - Enjoy the show, Alexx. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Show #76: Brodie Welch on life changing habit making

In this week's chat I bring back the wonderful practitioner Brodie Welch, L.ac and self care strategist. Many of you have gone on to do Brodie's courses after hearing her on the show so it's exciting to bring her back for you. In the past she's discussed some amazing nuggets of wisdom and practical advice from the Chinese medicine realm, such as the ‘time' that each organ thrives and how to work with the rhythm of our bodies to optimise health. In the past couple of years, she has been running habit breaking/forming circles with great success helping people really step into the habits that lay the foundation for the lives they want to live and we have a fascinating discussion around habits, goals and what some of the factors are for making or breaking them. Enjoy the show and as always, the show notes and show partner's special offer can be found at www.lowtoxlife.com/podcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Hosted on Acast.
