Do you have a healthy relationship with alcohol, with Nick Hickmott

Many of us drink to relax and socialise, but are we aware of how much we are drinking on a daily basis and what affects it may be having on our health?  During January this year, alcohol sales surged by 30%. This significant jump in sales has been linked to stress, boredom, anxiety and loneliness caused by the pandemic. When we look at our relationship with alcohol, do we consider the health implications regarding our physical and mental health? What are the health harms linked to drinking alcohol? At what point does it become a problem? The word alcoholic may not directly resonate with many people,  but does that imply that you have a healthy relationship with it?  In this weeks episode I speak with Nick Hickmott, Early Intervention Lead at drug, alcohol and mental health charity, We Are With You. Nick works with young adults on a daily basis,  aiming to provide young people with all the information they need to make sensible choices whilst offering a friendly ear to those who need it. In today's episode we do exactly that, opening up a conversation surrounding alcohol, how it can affect us mentally and physically, and what we can do when we starts to become problematic.  Show notes Host: @sarahannmacklin | www.sarahannmacklin.com Be Well Collective: @be_well_collective | www.bewellcollective.co.uk We Are With You Charity Alcohol and Drug Addiction support

Imposter phenomenon is associated with impaired job performance, decreased satisfaction at work and burnout.  To help me explore this further, I speak to phenomenal Dr. Valerie Young. How to eat sustainability with dietitian Louise Symington

How can we achieve a dietary intake which protects our health and our planet at the same time? One that is affordable and equitable? When we look at food sustainability, we need to include protecting populations from non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, producing our food with fewer resources, such as land, water and fuel to help feed to fast growing population. And it doesn't stop there, ethical food labelling can be a minefield of who to trust and not to trust.  To help me uncover this important topic, I speak to registered dietitian Louise Symington, aka the sustainable dietitian. With over 15 years experience, Louise has advised the Green Food Project and worked in food policy and worked with Sustain to provide schools and local authorities on providing good food quality.
