Fertility patients face many emotions as they undergo treatment, and for many it is a stressful time. One of the things that I always encourage patients to do is to assemble their TEAM. This means finding a Therapist, Eating right, doing Acupuncture, and creating a Mindfulness and Mediation practice. You all have heard me talk about Producer Paula Jenkins. She helps get The Egg Whisperer Show on the air, on YouTube, and everywhere. Emily submitted a great question to AskTheEggWhisperer.com: "What can I do to thicken my uterine lining? (I'm 37 and we've been TTC for over 6 months. Obgyn wanted me to try progesterone before going to specialist. My issue is a thin lining of 5mm. What can help my lining?" My answer to her was: Let's start by asking your doctor if Asherman's syndrome has been ruled out. An HSG, saline sonogram and hysteroscopy can all help make this diagnosis and ultimately may help treat it too. You can also add medications and supplements like: estrogen, aspirin, l-arginine and vitamin E that may help. In this Ask The Egg Whisperer episode, Elena sent in a question. Here's what she asked, "I'm 33 years old and overall good health. I've been trying to conceive for about two years.. First I tried naturally; then I did three rounds of Clomid. I finally got pregnant, but it was ectopic. They removed my right tube. I tried naturally with Clomid for three more months. My REI suggested IVF due to DOR (decreased ovarian reserve). I then did two cycles of IVF, but no luck. My husband's sperm analysis is good. What protocols should I try next with my DOR? As part of the IVF cycle, patients are given hormones which stimulates the ovaries to allow all the possible follicles and eggs to grow. The good news is that this often allows us to capture as many healthy eggs as possible in one cycle, giving a patient a better chance at a healthy embryo. You've mentioned that you have your patients take low-dose aspirin. I did an ERA cycle last month. My nurse told me it was up to me if I wanted to take it. I'm a type of person that likes yes or no answers during this process. Should I take it even though it wasn't recommended? In this Ask The Egg Whisperer episode, Zoe sent in a question. Here's what she asked, "I have a question about genetic testing. I'm 41. First round, we got 33 eggs retrieved, 19 fertilized, eight PGS tested, and only one normal. This was transferred, but wasn't successful. Same thing with a second cycle. I thought that was a problem with my chromosomes. So I had the karyotype test, which came back normal. My husband has two healthy sons from his previous marriage, so the doctor didn't think it was worth him having the test. Do we just accept that age is the problem here and my eggs aren't good quality? Should we just be happy with our one healthy embryo or should my husband do the karyotype?"
