Ep. 791: Paddleboarding From the Bahamas to Florida - Casey Kiernan

Paddleboard racing: Casey's unexpected overall win in the 80-mile Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis from Bahamas to Florida, taking the women's division and top spot, building on her skimboarding background where she became world champion twice, and her rapid rise in paddleboarding since starting in January 2021. Casey had high hopes when she set off from the Bahamas to race her paddleboard to Florida during the annual Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. She knew she had trained well, prepared her best and was a strong paddler. However, she didn’t expect that she would actually win the 80-mile adventure. When she ran through the finish line on the Florida beach, she was elated to find that she had not only won the women’s division of the race but the race overall! Today we’re hearing Casey’s story about how her love of skimboarding and unexpectedly being crowned the world champ twice led to her also becoming a highly accomplished paddleboarder, a sport she has only started since January 2021. Follow Casey: @casey_lynn_kiernanFind out more about the annual Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis and its parent organization Piper’s Angels here.Support Adventure Sports Podcast monthly by going to Patreon.com/AdventureSportsPodcast or make a one-time donation to the show here. Our Sponsors:* Check out Outdoorsy and use my code ASP for a great deal: https://www.outdoorsy.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 785: Thru-Hiking the Triple Crown in a Kilt - Nic “The Wandering Kiltsman” Cornett

Thru-hiking triple crown: Nic's journey from quitting his 9-5 job on doctor's orders to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail for rebirth, completing the AT and Continental Divide Trail, and gearing up for the Pacific Crest Trail, all while embracing the kilt as a symbol of freedom, hope, and warmth. Many of us reminisce or daydream of times thru-hiking a spectacular trail. Not as many of us have a kilt on during that daydream. For Nic, the kilt is a beacon of freedom, hope and warmth (you’ll have to listen to learn more about that). After years of living the old 9-5 story, Nic was tired of the way life was going. He decided, on doctors orders, to quit his job and thru-hike the Appalachian Trail to be “reborn” into a life he was more excited about. He has now completed the AT, the Continental Divide Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. We caught up with Nic before his PCT hike. Follow Nic:Www.thewanderingkiltsman.comYoutube.com/c/thewanderingkiltsmanInstagram: @thewanderingkiltsmanIf you’d like to learn amazing outdoor skills taught by world-class outdoor icons to help you get out there and have some fun, go to https://www.crux.academy/asp to get your buy-one-get-one subscription today! Our Sponsors:* Check out Outdoorsy and use my code ASP for a great deal: https://www.outdoorsy.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
