EP92 - Gwen Zywicke and Ultrarunning Mysticism

Today's guest is Gwen Zywicke, an ultrarunning friend in Louisiana. Gwen is a professor at LSU who has been doing some really interesting research. You know that feeling when you are running and you're in the zone? In flow? That runner's high? Well, Gwen is researching that and the connection with the mind, body, and spirit, particularly as it relates to ultrarunning! You'll love how passionate she is about her work on her book that will be entitled, "Ultrarunning Mysticism". This was such an interesting conversation! I still have so many questions and can't wait to read the book when she's done! Show Notes here:  http://www.theriot.run/gwen

EP89 - Dr. William Clark - Family man, Spinal surgeon, Iron man, Ultramarathoner.

One of the things I love about our sport is that it brings people from all walks of life together to enjoy pushing our limits and seeing what we can do.  I enjoyed this in-person visit with Dr. William Clark.   Dr. Clark is a spinal surgeon here in Tulsa Oklahoma specializing in scoliosis and spinal deformity.  He loves his job and the challenges it presents him on a regular basis.  Dr. Clark is an Ironman who has also done ultra-distance mountain bike races, including the Leadville 100.  He’s also completed various ultramarathons with more to come.  Some of you will love his committed but flexible approach to training as he balances work, family, and training.  I had a blast getting to know William and know you will too! EP88 - Jaclyn Long - Midwest Speedster

This week we chat with Midwest speedster, Jaclyn Long.  Jaclyn is known for a few things in races around here - speed, naps, waking from the dead, and a unique bluntness during races with her crew.  She’s a busy woman.  She’s a mom and nanny and raises tortoises, turkeys, and other "fowl" creatures.  Running gave her a focus when she was recovering from an eating disorder and she hasn’t stopped!  Join us for a very interesting conversation with Jaclyn!  Show Notes: http://www.theriot.run/jlong

EP87 - Catching up with Mike McKnight

I had a blast catching up with Mike to talk about all that he’s been up to since we had him on the podcast on episode 6.  On that first interview, we focused on Mike’s accident that could have kept him from running again.  We also discussed his win of all three races in the Triple Crown of 200s.  This time we talk a bit more about his low carb approach to running, his ZERO calorie 100-mile run, the Colorado Trail FKT, his Cocodona 250 DNF, and his big plans for the future which includes a 2022 Appalachian Trail FKT attempt!
