Greetings and welcome to episode #63 of the rose bros podcast!Today we are joined by Wayne Burke - CEO of Link Energy.After graduating from McGill Law school, Wayne leveraged his experience in the energy industry, after he thought there could be a better way to provide energy to consumers  that included a higher level of service combined with contributions back to the community. At its core, Link Energy is a retail energy provider that supplies electricity and natural gas to both residential and commercial users .Link also provides a high level of customers service, customizable service plans and contributes a portion of sales to support non-profit community programs.Instead of having to purchase your electricity from a faceless monolith, Link has made its goal to leave customers with a smile on their face knowing their purchase supports social causes (think artisanal coffee shop instead of corporate giant).Fast forward to today and  Wayne has build an 8 figure business that in 2019, Canadian Business and Maclean's  ranked  No. 6 on the 30th annual Growth 500 - a ranking of Canada's fastest growing companies on five year revenue growth. #62: Glenn Thomsen (Olympic + World Cup Coach) - Athlete Development from Thomas Grandi to Grandkids

Hello and welcome to episode #62 of the rose bros podcast !This episode we are joined by Glenn Thomsen - athlete, coach and dad who has guided ski racers from the grassroots level all the way up to the Olympic & World Cup stage.In 2017, The Canadian Rockies Ski Racing Hall of Fame recognized Glenn as an Honored Alberta and Canadian Ski Team Alumni, for a lifetime of passion for ski racing and coaching excellence.Glenn invested forty years into coaching elite level and next generation champions at three Olympic Winter Games, the Canadian National Ski Team on the World Cup Circuit, Provincial Ski Teams, grassroots club programs, and has seen his athletes reach the podium in both speed and tech – ladies and men.Among many athletes, Glenn guided Karen Percy to two Olympic bronze medals (1988) and a World Championship silver (1989), as well as podium results from Laurie Graham, Liisa Savijarvi, Kerrin Lee-Gartner and Lucie Laroche, Edi Podivinsky and Cary Mullen, Thomas Grandi, Brad Spence, Trevor White, Paul Stutz – all of who would subsequently reach the World Cup top 10 or better.Glenn has since retired from the sport of Alpine Ski racing and likes to spend his time with his family and wife Meghan, mountain biking, water skiing and playing hockey.We sat down for a smooth cup of rose bros coffee   and talked about different approaches to high level coaching, what makes a great athlete, how to stay young , advice to junior athletes and a lot more.Enjoy!Support the show

#61: Manuel Osborne-Paradis (4x Olympic Downhiller) - Retirement, Reflections & What's Next

This episode we are joined by Manuel Osborne-Paradis  for part II of our conversation!Born in North Vancouver, British Columbia - Manny grew up racing for the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. His first World Cup podium came in November 2006 at Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, and his first victory was at the downhill of Kvitfjell in March 2009.Manny spent 13 seasons on the World Cup Circuit competing in 4 Olympic Games and 6 World Championships with 2 Downhill wins, 1 Super-G win and 11 podium finishes. Since our last conversation, Manny made the decision to retire from the sport of alpine ski racing to focus on his business career, two young children and wife Lana.Manny currently lives in Invermere, British Columbia where he enjoys ski touring, golf, mountain biking and a variety of sports. #60: Patrick Biggs - Olympic Skiing, the Ivy League & Balancing Creativity with Business

Hello and welcome to episode #60 of the Rose Bros Podcast.Today we are joined by Patrick Biggs.Patrick was first named to represent Canada as a member of the Canadian National Ski Team in May of 2004. Over a nine year period he competed at the International stage representing Canada at the 2006 Winter Games in Torino, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, placed in the top 10 at two World Championships and scored top 30 results on the World Cup circuit for 7 years. Graduating from Dartmouth College in 2012 with an A.B. majoring in Engineering and Studio Art, he then moved into the next stage of his life and started a career as a professional artist in Ottawa, Ontario with his wife and family. In addition, he is also a Director of the Elk Valley Land Trust which is a non-profit organization with the goal of setting aside thousands of forest acres for future use in the Fernie area. The following is a conversation with W. Brett Wilson. W. Brett Wilson is an investment banker, businessman, investor, philanthropist and was a season 3, 4 & 5 panelist on the CBC Television show -  Dragons' Den.Brett graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary and began his career as an engineer in the energy industry before earning his MBA (Entrepreneurship), also from the U of C. Eventually transitioning to investment banking, he co-founded an investment banking advisory firm, Wilson Mackie & Co., in 1991, and in 1993, co-founded FirstEnergy Capital Corp with Rick Grafton, Jim Davidson and N. Murray Edwards. Since then, he has had a variety of business interests including ownership in the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League.
