24-year-old Rita Curran is found violently murdered in her Burlington apartment. The second grade teacher had recently moved out of her parents' home to share an apartment with  three other roommates. Curran was working over the summer break as a maid while taking graduate courses. Curran turns down a dinner invitation from her roommates, planning to spent the night in. When the roommates return home, they hang out in the living room for a time. When they turn in for the night, that's when Curran's badly beaten body is discovered.  An intense investigation was launch, but no suspects were identified. For more than 50 years, the carefully preserved evidence offered no leads. Tiffany Valiante, 18, has graduated high school and is on her way to Mercy College in New York. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, Valiante is a star athlete, earning a volleyball scholarship. On July 12, 2015, Valiante left her cousin's graduation party. A few hours later, the family learns Valiante has been struck and killed by a train traveling 80mph in a secluded, wooded area just four miles from her home. The death is ruled a suicide by the medical examiner.  Valiante's family is fighting that ruling over many issues. First and foremost, Valiante had an intense fear of the dark, meaning there was no way she would walk more than four miles in the dark. Her shoes were found more than a mile from her body, yet her feet were clean. Two murders, weeks apart. Teen cheerleader Amie Hoffman vanished after leaving her part-time job. Two days later,  her body is found floating in a retention tank at a local reservoir. Hoffman has been sex assaulted and stabbed repeatedly.  Twelve days later 25-year-old Deirdre O’Brien, 25, bangs on a truck driver’s door at a desolate rest stop pleading for help. She also has been stabbed. Before O’Brien dies, she describes her attacker as tall and slender with bushy hair and some facial hair.  No arrest is immediately made, but the next year, 1983, a break in the case surfaces. James Koedatich calls police, describing his escape from an attacker, who stabbed him. As emergency responders take Koedatich out on a stretcher, a responding officer sees a car that matches descriptions of a vehicle spotted at the mall the night of Hoffman's disappearance and at the rest stop where O’Brien is attacked.
