LinkedIn Strategies that Work with Katie McKiever

I'm not going to lie, when I started my business, I was super skeptical about joining LinkedIn as a business. I've since gotten into a good rhythm but this interview with Katie McKiever still reframed my perspective on how LinkedIn can be used for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Katie McKiever has vast social media, communications, and content marketing expertise. For more than twelve years, she has specifically worked in social media marketing, previously managing social media teams for multiple multi-million dollar organizations and one multi-billion dollar organization. Now, she builds creative social media solutions for growing brands as a sought-after consultant. She has single-handedly crafted tens of thousands of social media posts, brought tens of millions of impressions, and millions of dollars in earned media and direct business value through the content that she has created for brands' social media channels. Katie has trained hundreds of individuals in social media best practices. * Join Katie's newsletter for all of the latest social updates: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/60c73326f10375026d7161f2 * Connect with Katie on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/katiemckiever Follow Katie on IG @katiemckiever * Related episodes: 181. What is EBITDA?

EBITDA is something you may have heard in the finance world. But what is it? And what does it tell you? EBITDA stands for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. When you take your earnings and add back in interest expense, taxes, depreciation, and amortization you'll get your EBITDA. For many of you this number may be the same as your net profit (earnings) because you don't have interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization to pay but if your EBITDA is different than net income, it's important to know. * Related episodes: 166. Selling Through Service with Ashley Frank

One of the barriers I often see to entrepreneurs unlocking their next level of success and confidence is embracing sales. Don't look at it as an obligation or something you HAVE to do. That's why I've brought Ashley Frank on the show today, to share how you can step into sales with a whole new mindset; without feeling sleazy or manipulative. For over 15 years, Ashley has partnered with innovative global technology companies, including Salesforce, Google, and Merkle, helping them build and scale growth-focused organizations. Now his focus is helping entrepreneurs and business leaders develop high-growth cultures focused on the fundamental principles of selling, taking consistent action, and building meaningful relationships rather than quick wins. When you're going into a conversation that has the potential to end in a sale, you shouldn't be going in solely with that intent. The goal is to help and serve and each conversation is an opportunity to do that. If you go into the day thinking "I just have to make a sale today," people will feel that and pick up on it. We're also talking about when to hire someone or outsource sales, and more importantly, when not to. * Related episodes: 181. What Problem Do You REALLY Solve? 186. Out-value Your Competition 189. How to Set Effective Goals for the New Year

It's goal-setting season! I wanted to drop in and remind you that your goals are supposed to be based on what you really want. If you're setting goals in your business, they're likely financial ones, and that's great. I love measurable goals using metrics. But as you set these metric-based goals, make sure they're anchored to your true goal. What's the "why" behind it? When you know the "why" behind your goals, you can drive towards them and confidently pursue them. This makes the to-do list not feel endless and devoid of purpose, it feels purpose-driven, constantly moving the needle in your business. Related episodes: 166. What Does a Fractional CFO Do? 174. Selling Pain Points and Not Problems

We hear a lot about marketing around pain points and I 100% believe you should be doing this, but you need to understand that a pain point and a problem are not the same things. The pain points are the stakes of the problem, the result of the problem. If you can articulate that to clients, relate to them, and create stakes around the problem that you're going to help them solve, you'll be able to clearly articulate your value. What is the struggle they feel on a daily basis? What will their days look like after working with you? Related episodes: 175. How to Define Your Core Values 178. How I Crank Out Content 181.
