Ep. 21 - Analytic Philosophy, Personalism, and the Disappearance of Moral Knowledge w/Dr. Aaron Preston

In this episode, Dr. Aaron Preston explains how the turn to the analytic tradition of philosophy and the rejection of the person-first emphasis of Personalism has led to what Dallas Willard termed "the disappearance of moral knowledge". We get into phenomenology, Dallas Willard, Husserl, Boston Personalism, and finish up with a discussion of the philosophy of MLK.  If you like this podcast, then support it on Patreon for $1, $3, or $5 a month. Ep. 20 - Will Dogs Be in Heaven? Will My Dog Be in Heaven?

In this episode, I try to parse out the difference between these two questions, then I try to refute a popular pithy answer to whether or not your dog will be in heaven, and then I explain why I don't think we can answer the second question with any amount of certainty.  If you like this podcast, then support it on Patreon for $1, $3, or $5 a month. Ep. 19 - How John Richards Saved Thousands of Alligator Snapping Turtles

In this episode, we hear from another one of my heroes, John Richards of Loggerhead Acres Turtle Farm. John has probably done more to save alligator snapping turtles than anyone else in history. These turtles were in a bad way, being commercially harvested for Campbell's turtle soup and for the turtle meat market when John stepped in and saved over 1,000 adults from the market and began reproducing them for conservation and for the turtle hobby. The more people became educated about these beautiful beasts, the less they wanted to eat them and the more they wanted to study them. Check out https://turtleman.com/ for pictures, info, and a chance to buy your own mini beast- but check your state regulations before you get one!  If you like this podcast, then support it on Patreon for $1, $3, or $5 a month. Ep. 18 - Does Christianity's Best Argument Have a Fatal Flaw? w/Dr. Michael Riley

In this episode, Dr. Michael Riley and I discuss Cornelius Van Til's transcendental argument for the existence of God (TAG) and how philosopher Barry Stroud's arguments against transcendental arguments affect Van Til's argument. Now, that all may sound daunting, but Dr. Riley breaks it down for us nicely.  If you like this podcast, then support it on Patreon for $1, $3, or $5 a month. Ep. 16 - Understanding Kant's Religion W/ Dr. Chris Firestone

In this episode, Kant scholar, Chris Firestone, gives us an intro to Kant and then goes in on his interpretation of Kant's religious views, particularly Kant's views on Christianity. Firestone argues that most people who read Kant stop at the first Critique (of Pure Reason) but to truly know what Kant believed you must read the rest of Kant's critiques (his second and third) along with some of his other writings.  if you've enjoyed the podcast, then consider becoming a Patreon supporter.
