This week on the show I'm joined by a really special guest in Harry Garside. Harry is an Australian boxer who recently returned home from the Olympics where he picked up a Bronze Medal that he'll add to his collection alongside a Gold Commonwealth Games.When you think of fighting, you might be guilty of picturing aggressive, intimidating figures. Harry is definitely intimidating in the ring but outside it, he's an incredibly thoughtful young man intent on breaking trends and social norms that significantly contribute to negative masculinity. Most notably of late he's outlined how ballet gives him an edge, spoken openly about his mental health, wore nail polish in the olympics and planned to wear a dress to the opening ceremony.Harrys got a lot to offer the world and I'm happy to be jumping on the Garside bandwagon. Lin Jong is a recently retired footballer from the Western Bulldogs. He is such an awesome guy, I have wanted to have him on the show for ages. It was a fascinating chat. He’s just released his first book called 28 which has been described as “A memoir of football, addiction, art, masculinity and love”. Brandon and I connected on the intricacies of playing in the AFL and the things that go through anyones mind on the fringe. Trying to be someone you’re not, thinking ill of teammates to feel better about yourself, dealing with tall poppy syndrome and even being a part of the problem.
