The Fifth Column (private feed for bitterone31droid@googlemail.com) Special Dispatch #12: The Williamsburg Tapes: I'm a Historian LOL
On a beautiful March afternoon, Kmele shows up in Williamsburg eating Arizona Ice Tea-branded cotton candy and flying on muscle relaxers. Following a series of unexplained-but-obviously-unfortunate events, Welch is back in fighting shape, banging the table and yelling into the mic. Nothing new in Moynihan world, as he shuffles around the apartment making margaritas and muttering about commies. And for a full two hours, the lads address some of the following issues:
- Kmele goes to the Times building to not ask any questions about the 1619 Project
- The Daniel Goldhagen controversy, the 1619 non-debate, and how lazy ideology is recast as brave revisionist history
- Kmele hangs with comedian and John McWhorter fan Tracy Morgan
- Is this the golden age of “don’t @at me bro” debate?
- Some exciting reader mail
- Kmele revisits his health care rant, with a few minor corrections and many expansions
- Moynihan revisits the Aaron Mate/Cuba debate
- Yes, we’re doing a live show in D.C. on May 5th
Reminder: if you're in New York City and like drinking on a Monday night, following tomorrow's Soho Forum debate between Tim Wu and Richard Epstein, Kmele, Matt, and Moynihan will be gathering at Bleecker Street Bar (56-58 Bleecker St) in Manhattan for some irresponsible boozing with friends, enemies, and our beloved Patreon supporters. See you there!
