Account takeover is a familiar threat to all businesses that encourage customers to establish online accounts. Its advent enabled fraudsters to operate with impunity once they had illegally obtained data to access someone’s account.
Over the years, fraud pros have come up with different ways to identify and stop ATOs. But, as with other types of attacks, fraudsters constantly alter their tactics and innovate, finding new ways to leverage old attacks. Additionally, Mike introduces the term "Targeted friction" as a way to only apply friction in the cases of outliers, instead of an entire group of customers.
