Today, I am blessed to have Dr. Wendie Trubow. Dr Trubow is the President of Five Journeys, a membership-based wellness company that uses functional medicine and a distinctive method of addressing the five main components of health (physical, chemical, emotional, social, and spiritual) to develop an all-encompassing strategy for vitality and wellness.

She is also a functional medicine and wellness provider, a bestselling author, and a self-proclaimed champion for health.

Dr Trubow is passionate about helping women optimize their health and their lives, in general. She believes that there are multiple challenges in a woman’s life – work, home, relationships, spirituality, and health- all important, in her opinion.

Other than the credentials that help her have a solid medical backdrop to assist other women achieve vitality in life, she’s also had her share of struggles and a very eventful journey in life, which gave her just as much support to her methods care. Dr Trubow has had issues with mold and metal toxicity, Celiac disease, and many other health issues, which gave her a deep sense of compassion for what women are facing when they come to ask for her assistance.

· You’re more likely to react physically to wheat from the United States.

· Wheat in the U.S. has been specifically bred to grow faster and resistant to drought and weather conditions like wind and rain.

· This feature caused the wheat to be more allergenic to most people.

· A European breed of wheat, however, even though it still has the particles of gluten, won’t give you as many reactions as someone usually would.

· Anything that comes into your bloodstream gets an immune response due to its foreign nature. Your body sometimes gets it wrong, and because of the confusion, it mounts an immune response against itself.

· Dr Trubow loves food sensitivity testing. The one she uses the most is Alletess because they have a lot of testing, great accuracy, testing modality, ease of use, and, most importantly, a good price point.

· She likes to do it about every two years with her patients. This is because its easier to compare than when you do it frequently.

· She had her food sensitivity testing done during the early COVID era, and she thought they made a mistake with her results because it was too good to be true.

· Compared to her test 15 years ago, which stated that she was sensitive to more than 50% of food, it was night and day.

· She believes food sensitivity testing is a good guidepost for where you want to proceed.

[29:05] How Do Toxins Work? Here's the truth about toxins!

· You can’t just say what you were or weren’t exposed to throughout your day. Toxins do not work that way.

· Other than that, it’s very difficult to identify what toxins you were exposed to in the first place because they are everywhere.

· You cannot escape toxins; therefore, you should just make sure that your detoxification pathways are working properly, so your body can get rid of them efficiently.

[41:44] Is Alcohol in Moderation Healthy For You?

· There is a study that states that it is a common theme for centenarians to have alcohol present in their diet.

· Dr Trubow compares it to having a glass of poison. It might taste good or not, depending on the person but at the end of the day, it will impair some internal organs, and you’ll realize that it’s not a very good investment if you want to live longer.

· Wendie says it’s better to drink something like a dry farm wine because it doesn’t contain pesticides. She also advises diluting it with another drink and sipping it slowly.

· Moderation is to a week, not to a day.
