
Moving Markets Markets digest data, earnings and an assassination attempt
European and US markets closed the week higher with some stock rotation in evidence after Thursday’s US CPI data fuelled optimism of a first Fed rate cut in September. The big banks started to announce Q2 earnings, and more than 40 S&P 500 companies are due to report second-quarter earnings this week. Then came the shock attempt on Donald Trump’s life at a rally in Pennsylvania. He escaped serious injuryand as he plans the next stages of his presidential campaign, pollsters currently see a higher likelihood of him winning the race. Mensur Pocinci, Head of Technical Analysis, gives his insights into where the markets might go from here.
