We all have these kind of subconscious negative thoughts and predictions flicking through our head. Do we have the power to stop them? Will doctor beck help us do it? He says if we train our minds to recognize disfunctional thinking, then we can intervene in a positive way. For instance, with the cove 19 pandemic, a person very easily could think, well, you know, life is never going to get back to normal. But that’s a negative prediction. It's itsself defeating, its self destructive. We're dealing with an invisible predator that uses us as hosts. And so we have to learn how to to recognize its weaknesses.
