I sat down with David Stillson to talk about the world of small rental businesses and how he’s built a few of them on the side. We started with his moving tote rental business, where he buys industrial totes in bulk and rents them to people who are moving, often through partnerships with realtors who gift the rentals to their clients.

We also talked about his RV rental business, where he bought a travel trailer, listed it on platforms like Outdoorsy and RVshare, and validated the idea with about $7,000 in revenue in the first season. Finally, we touched on his small podcast and music studio rental, which started as a hobby but now occasionally generates income.
