The Covenant Name of God in the Old Testament
One listener from Barnavald in the Netherlands asked, why does the ESV translate the Hebrew word Yahweh as the Lord and not simply as Yahweh? I think there's a lot more than it's a slam dunk. We know this is how to pronounce it. This is one time where I would worry a little bit about audience. It's offensive to Jewish readers to say the divine name. Also we're not exactly sure given the vowel points that it should be,. That's our best understanding.
