Game Studies as a Research Field

I think this book dealt a lot with labor essentially, but I'm very, very interested now in practice or in like creative practice. How do we talk about game making as as a creative practice? It's something of a subfield of game studies which is largely been championed by Ali Sama and Jan Speltath. But there's kind of a number of us now in Finland, Canada, Australia who are looking at game production for their own purposes. So seeing that field grow and stabilize is really nice to see. The 2019 digra conference in Kyoto will be the first one since 2009 when it was founded.
