Is There a Decrease in VO2 Max as You Age?

The heart itself changes a bit and its ability to pump blood is not going to be quite as strong as it is when we're younger. And so with that in mind, if our max heart rate is going down, the heart rate that we can sustain during exercises generally going to be lower too. We will see some decline in exercise capacity as we age, but that shouldn't be driven by the skeletal muscles. You know, it should just be our performance level is going to bequite as high.
