Why You Shouldn't Till Your Soil Every Year

There's a whole process. There's special equipment that allows you to move away from tilling so that they can plant through. They also use a what they call cover crops. And cover crops stay on when your cash crop is not growing. That kind of protects and insulates the soil and makes it easier to plant the following year without having to till up every year. Some farmers will use things like buckweet clover, even oats, as a cover crop in the off season.
