Lisa Baisl grew up in a small town near Munich, in Germany — a place she eventually moved to in order to attend law school, something that seemed like the obvious choice to follow a traditional path. She didn’t even know what it meant to go through law school, what it took to become a lawyer, or even how long it was going to take. And her time as a student was hard — really hard. The whole competitive environment had a major impact on her mental health.
But it was an internship in Dublin, Ireland, that opened the door to another possibility. Away from everyone and everything she knew, she felt comfortable and started creating content on TikTok about skincare. Things started to work out for Lisa — and back in Germany, between her dream job and her content creation side hustle, something had to give. Lisa pressed pause on her legal career to dedicate more time to her influencer career. That choice proved to be the right one: Lisa has worked with prestigious brands and traveled to different places.
And then she took another bold step: she said goodbye to her family and moved solo to New York City, a choice that was not easy, but, as Lisa says, sometimes you have to be selfish.
In this episode, we talk about letting go of identity attachments, taking risks, and building a life aligned with who you actually are.

Why the name “Transplants”?
I've always loved the meaning this word can have. To be a transplant is to carry one life while learning to live another.
