The Evolution of Life Expectancy
Most mammals are programmed to live about two and a half times the age of reproduction. People make it to 100 right now like your grandparents there. But for most of us people under the distribution curve, one standard deviation on the side, we can make it to 90 pretty reliably but beyond that the system falls apart. It's a lot like buying a brand new car. I mean we can't even figure out how to make a car last for 30 years. So how do we expect a body to last for 100 is far more complex.
